Anyone have one ? They are practically giving one away at my local shop. i may take a chance. Are the sights regulated to point of aim?

I believe the 619 has fixed sights and the model 620 has adjustable sights.Hope this helps.

Yep you are correct. thats why i hesitate a little because if the sights are off there is nothing you can do.

I've been curious about the 619. Smith introduced it with some fanfare, about 2 years ago, as a companion to the adjustable sight 620. Then, quickly, they discontinued it. Obviously, it didn't sell well at all. Maybe, because, to my knowledge, it came only with a 4" barrel. But, Smith continues to make and apparently find a market for other fixed sight 4" K frame guns, like the models 10 and 64, so I'm not sure what happened.

I've sent two fixed sighted guns back to S&W to have the windage adjusted, and now both are dead on; so don't let the lack of adjustable sights stop you (just be prepared to send it in for re-regulating)...as best I can tell, they did just a bit of filing on one side of the rear sight notch. You have some control over elevation by changing bullet weight (heavier hits higher, lighter hits lower).

If you are in love with the 619 haggle on the price and get it. IMO, $499 out the door would be a better deal, but that is just my opinion.

If it were closer to $400 for me it would be a no brainer. As others have said, perhaps it would be a wiser investment, but only from an investment standpoint, to get a prelock/premim gun that you like.

A 4 inch 66 would go a long way towards making up for the 7th hole, and gain value much quicker.

Let us know what you do. I would love to see a range report on the 619.

Just a thought here, and my opinion only: with a nice Model 66, someone may think twice before carrying it in the field and exposing it to hard use and the elements...for just the reasons that all are making for it...great revolver that will accrue in value more quickly than the 619. To me, the 619 or 620 are the "go-to" revolvers that someone will pick and and carry into the field or in their pick-up truck, not worrying greatly about messing up the finish on a valuable revolver that is an investment.

I'm considering picking up a 620 at my local gunshop for just that reason: I won't be afraid to use it!

For what it is worth, I recently picked up a new in the box 619 in a trade. Took it to the range yesterday and fired it for the first time. Two comments: out of the box, this 619 had the smoothest trigger of any of my Smiths. It was as good as my old 66 which had some trigger work done on it. Second, it was dead on accurate. I was so impressed with the accuracy of the fixed sights that I immediately put this pistol in my rotation for regular use.

If I see another one for the price quoted above, I will probably jump on it.

I usually am only interested in snubnose revolvers, but this 4 incher makes me look good on the range.
