Hi-I have been watching CDNN flyers for a while now and the Smith and Wesson bolt action rifles seem to have a good price. Everything I can find to read about them appears good.
Does anyone have experiance wth these in 30-06? What kind of accuracy and dependabilitydo you see? I am thinking about getting one but since these are discontinued I am concerned about part if needed.

The only one I've examined closee up is a Howa made gun. A quality rifle.

A friend of mine drug one home from a gunshow..well used. I took it apart for him to clean up..and to see why the safety was floppy. the screws holding the trigger/saftey mechanism were loose..and I doubt the rifle's action had ever been removed from the stock before!

Cleaned up..the rifle appeared to be an excellent gun..and he reports fine accuracy from the rifle.

Howa makes rifles and actions for other brands. The quality is reported as excellent.

I'm way behind the times..and don't read enough gun-propaganda. That's a S&W made product..not related to the older Howa made guns at all...sorry for the misinfo.

The online reveiws I just read online are dated back to 2007..and give the Ibolt rave reports. Shooting times has pics comparing the action to a Remington Model 700...GunBlasts dude smashed a big deer with one..and had pics of itty-bitty groups...I bet it's a great rifle.

I just bought one of the older Howa made S&W 1500 rifles yesterday. No idea what year model..early 1980's I'm guessing. Chambered in .308 Winchester.

The ibolt rifles also had Thompson produced barrels. From what I know about them, they were good rifles, they just couldn't compete with the big bolt action rifle companies. I have been thinking about adding an ibolt to the collection, just haven't done it yet.

Now, the best, IMO, bolt action rifles with the S&W name on them were the ones they originally imported from Husqvarna in the late 60's.

That is my S&W Model C (original names back then) in .243 Win.

The S&W I -Bolts that CDNN are offering are excellent value and extremely accurate rifles. I am a FFL dealer and picked up 1/2 dozen of them last fall in .270, 25/06 and 30-06. They are Thompson Center barreled, Timminey triggered. They are adjustable triggers and even in the 30-06 are very light recoil. When compared to a Rem. or Browning these are excellent buys. Also very light weight.

a savage model 10 in 308 will out shoot them all day long...far superior barrels and action..let alone stock and bedding.
