Smith 1854 Lever Action 44 Magnum

Really picka

I’m new to the forum and new to lever guns. But I took my 1854 .45LC out today to shoot it for the first time. I loaded up 8 rounds and when I went to chamber the first round, the round got stuck coming out of the loading ramp and the lever stuck open. Won’t budge. Had to take out the tube and unload the other rounds that way. Does anyone know what happened and what I may done to cause this?

Same thing happened to me with my new SH in 357. I sent it in for repair and they got it back to me quickly which was excellent. The tech note stated they polished the bore. The .357 magnum loads are working ok now. I'll expirament with different 38 ammo to see if I can find something that works reliably or just stick with 357-the more I shoot it the more I like it.

I must live under a rock, but I just saw these. They look pricey and a bit non-traditional. Who has one that can give us a report?
I got mine last month (.44 mag/synthetic stock), know I'm late to the party here. I have zero complaints. I do live in Canada, so round capacity was a big factor for me. But in terms of the rifle itself:
-good weight, it's front heavy (due to the synthetic stocks), but in all the right ways.
- Quality manufacturing. lives up to what made S&W an industry standard.
-9+1 capacity. ( key factor for me)
-m-lok slots to customize and make it yours.
If you are between this and comparable, such as the other top brand's modern lever gun, you really can't go wrong. Though if you are looking between this and a lower cost option, I 100% recommend going with one of these. This is one of those situations where the extra dollars directly translate to a better product. But again, between this and say the new Marlin, you can't make a bad choice.
