Check out the pics and please let me know the value of the package. Has the original grips. Apparently these guns were a mixed shipment over the years. Seller wants $2100.00. Thanks for everyone's time and check out the pics.

You're right, it's ~64.3%
I am no expert by any means, but on items like this (rare) you may hit the lottery one day, and be priced out for the same thing on another.

Best bet is to do a search of completed auctions and go from there. HTH

3 inch is worth more than 4 inch by several hundred dollars in recent auctions. However the correct box and paper plus tools is a big plus. As usual condition is paramount. I once had a 3 inch that looked well holster worn so much that it shined. Had it bead blasted and could pass for new. Jm2 CW.

Hi OP,

black1970 has nailed it. The 3" version of this gun is where the big money is at for this revolver, not the 4" version. However, the pictures shared looks to show the complete package for this desirable 4" gun. So, all comes down to how much you want it. If it was me, I would pass on the $2100 price tag as the 4" guns are typically going for less. If you have $2100 to spend, I would look around at what else once can buy for this kind of money and buy that instead.

So, unless this gun is required by yourself to complete your 686 collection, I would pass.

I know I am resurrecting a very old thread, and my apologizes to the moderators... I have one question, I have been researching CS-1s for some time now, on the crane, where the CS markings are. (The first picture in the thread) I have never seen a serial number there, just a CS 1 and M or 2M stamp and the MOD 686 stamp. Is this correct?

In my observations most of the CS-1s I have seen do not have the SN stamped on the yoke cutout, but as usual never say never with S & W. They probably took both unstamped and stamped frames to complete the contract.

There are rarer guns than the CS-1's going for a lot less than $2100. For instance a Model 1950 Target or an original model 520. At $1350, you're pretty close to the top of the market for a 4" model. The prices have come way down from where they were a couple of years ago when buyers were paying as much as $3K.

I love CS-1's and have two of them, both 3 inch (one purchased new as an over run gun in 1988). While the 4 inch guns are really neat, I have passed on a few of them. It seems that the interest is in the 3 inch much like several of my early PC guns. The long and short of it, I would say that 4 inch gun/package is more like a $1,200 deal...but if it fits your need, then maybe up to $1,500...but we all have different "needs". Best Wishes in your negotiation.

If you are looking to turn it for more money someday, just remember... you are doing the making money part when you buy it, not when you sell it.
