Smith and Wesson Governor??

What's wrong with it? I don't want one, but then I don't want a lot of things that other people seem to. As a matter of fact I haven't really wanted a new Smith & Wesson since they went to three digit model numbers (I do have a Sigma, I admit).

But if I'm a stockholder, and I see all those Taurus Judges jumping off the shelves, I want to know when we're going after a piece of that action. There's money to be made in those silly things. I understand Taurus just bought out a 28 ga version.

It is just plain ugly. Bad coloring, bad looks and I would say something about the handling but I have not handled one and hope I never do.

People buy guns for looks as well as functionality. Well, those other than Glock owners do. People like a "pretty" gun. Nothing pretty about that gun.

S&W joins the .410 revolver club....

Just saw this report from the Shot Show.

Don't know if anyone else has reported it. Looks like S&W is jumping on the .45 Colt - .410 revolver band wagon.

Yep, S & W's web page has The Governor on the first page

Taurus has a 28 gauge judge too!

Glocks are pretty, just in a more angular way!

S&W is a business and they go where the money is.....I'm surprised they didn't come out with this several years ago....

I laughed at the "Judge" when it first came out, I was like "Taurus is making some craptastic .410 revolver that no one will buy because it's a STUPID idea" well, the joke was on me, it became one of Taurus' biggest sellers.

Even at $700, people will buy S&W .410 revolvers like hotcakes, if nothing else for the "cool factor" to have another hand cannon to blast fruit with and show off to their freinds:)

If S&W copies Taurus and makes a 16" stocked carbine version of this .410 revolver I'll be all over it:D

Lame idea, lame name, lame gun. S & W should have spent that $ on research and development. Just my opinion.

They can't make a lock free K-frame magnum, or a scandium single stack TDA pistol, but they put the famous trademark on that Taurus rip off?

Pathetic. Regards 18DAI.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Judge is a 5 shot right? This Governor is six shot and accepts moon clips so its a up grade. It really is ugly, but then its no uglier than the judge.

Honestly, I have thought about buying a Public Defender model for woods-walking, cause I hate snakes. I mean really, hate snakes!

But, I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Taurus. I'd buy this one instead for the moon clips, .45 ACP ability, and S&W logo.

"Public Defender" ????
I think I'll wait for the "District Attorney" or better yet for the "Courthouse Janitor". As far as the S&W GOvernor-I'll think I will wait for the "Secretary of State" or perhaps the "Ambassador to France".

It will ship in this month MAYBE.. ... It's not for me but.. I have seen it and fired it.. I will say this .. if your into this type gun, it is balanced well.. looks better and much better put together than the Judge.. But you decide..

You know, that thing with a 10" barrel, made out of stainless, adjustable sights, provision for a scope and chambered in .375 Win would be a neat deer gun. Or better yet - .40-70 Sharps Straight.

S&W makes and sells guns for a profit, not to keep a bunch of crotchety old collectors in a good humor...:) S&W would be foolish to ignore the demands any segment of the market with a demand large enough to show a substantial profit. I see many things for sale, and not just firearms, that are idiotic to me, but somebody is willing to fork over their cash, so who am I to argue with success?
