Can any of you help me determine the year of manufacture for my model 64? The serial number is AFR6586, and it was purchased from AIM Surplus as a European police/security trade in. Thank you in advance.

Is that "Nechaev" as in the admiral on Star Trek NG?

Despite 1000s of posts and 'likes' in 2 years, I feel so out of place not knowing the 'hyphen numbers' of my guns. I have 2 Model 64s. Could not tell you the 'hyphen #s,' but I do know they shoot well.

I know the dash numbers of my assorted (4) 64's, but regardless of which model I have, it shoots better than I do, and the trigger is perfect for rapid DA shooting.

I don't have a AFR in my s/n collection, but I have a bunch that are close. They're all either December 1984 or January 1985. The AFx's jump around a lot.

My 64-3 is a great shooter also! Currently my night stand gun with C.T. Laser Grips on it. She looks much better wearing WOOD! Enjoy the 64! Bob
Nice grips. I have Pachmayr grips on mine. The wood definitely looks more classic.

I was always a bit of Star Trek fan. You are the first to catch the reference. Check the crane of your revolvers with a magnifying glass if need be, and the good people on this forum will help with the identification.

BTW, I also pinned down the avatar "Matt Hooper" as the Richard Dreyfuss character in "Jaws," and recently, "Tuco Benedicto" (...Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez") as the Eli Wallach bandito of "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly." Oh, and yes, I do have a life! Live long and prosper.
