I was looking for one, but a Springfield XDs became available and I bought it.
Can't go wrong with the XDS! Haven't shot it yet, but it feels nice. Did you get 45 or 9?

It's a 45. The only ammunition I could find was Federal hollow-point self defense. I shot five of them, and it was nice. The recoil is not bad at all - about like my XDm 9. Tomorrow the local Gander Mountain will have its ammo shipment in. They said the 45's don't go real fast, but they will be gone by the end of the day, so I'm going in the morning.
Recoil the same as XDM9?? That's a pretty soft shooter if I recall my experiences with the XDM9. That'd be very good for a tiny 45! I better go try one out!

Seriously?? Darn ... am I not paying enough attention when I go into Ace's in Houston and Dallas? I'm going today just to look!!

Just purchased the Shield .40 and was looking for any info on trigger job kits. Do the AEK triger kits that are labeled for the M&P fit the Shield??? New to this gun and not sure of there compatability...

I just picked up a Shield and a XDS 9mm at LGS. They had 2 of the Shields and 1 XDS so I got one of each to make sure I didn't regret it : ) I did what someone recommended here. I went to S&W site and searched for local LGS. I started dialing down the list and found one a little over an hour away that had them in stock. Made the drive and saw they also had the XDS 9.

I just picked up a Shield 9mm in Jacksonville, FL for $399.95 Saturday, seemed to have a good stock of both 9mm & 40... Shooters of Jacksonville is the store.

No I haven't shot them yet but so far I like the feel of the XDS in my hands better. I have medium sized hands so that's just a personal preference. XDS also feels a little top heavier. Like the sights on the XDS. The slide on the Shield is a lot stiffer so I'm not sure if it needs more break in? But it does take some effort to rack the slide back fully.
