Shot a Model 18 no dash made in 1961 with the checkered diamond grips yesterday. I picked up the gun recently. The gun shoots fine perfect ejection, ignition etc. However, the action seems to be on the tight side. Single action kind of hard to thumbback the hammer. There is very little cyl end shake if any. Does anybody know how these guns were headspaced. If I slightly pull back the hammer when the cyl bolt drops cylinder sing is hard to obtain. The barrel to cylinder gap is fine no interference there, but the cylinder fit is kind of tight and will not spin very freely. Would appreciate any technical input. Thanks, vickersmaster303 :)

If the gun has been sitting for a long time the action might have a lot of dried oil in it. This would also go for the yoke which the cylinder spins on. I cleaned a Colt Cobra that was stored for many years and the cylinder would hardly turn. Dried oil (grease) was the problem in that case.

Not at all and the gun was detail stripped and cleaned. Turns fine with the cyl open. Thanks vickersmaster303
