Smith & Wesson 29 - 1 6.5 barrel

I just bought a 29-1 8 3/8 barrel length with presentation case. Presentation case was all I brought home, the gun needs to be transferred over to me it came out of an estate sale. Was wondering if there is someone here who can re-flock the foam in the presentation case?

I commented on your post in the 1896-1961 section too. We need better pictures to help with value although condition looks very good from what we can see in the fuzzy pictures. Value for -1s has been in the $3k-$4k range although there haven't been many sales lately, reported here anyway. If you have the box/tools even better. I know of one for sale currently with box/tools/paperwork (but probably not correct stocks) with a listed price of $8800 which seems very, very optimistic to me. The downside is that the correct stocks will cost $500-$800 and if not included will reduce the value at least that much. Better pictures. please.

Hi,

Just joined. Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread but figured it couldn't hurt to at least try here too.

I am looking for my Dad's old Model 29. He passed away and I would love to be able to get it back.

Here are some details that may help in locating it.

Serial # S180498

3/18/15 - My Dad sold it to a guy in Libertyville, IL

I found the sales paperwork and was able to talk with the guy who bought it from my Dad. Unfortunately he no longer has it. He sold it several years ago to someone in West Virginia on GunBroker.

I contacted a couple sellers on GunBroker that have Pre 29 44 Magnums listed for sale to see if the one they have matches the serial number. So far no luck. One seller on there suggested joining this forum and asking for help from the members.

Thank you in advance for any advice or tips in locating my Dads old gun. It really means a lot.

Matt, more eyes will definitely see it if you start a new thread. Maybe include "Looking for my father's Pre-29" in the title. BTW, I have S180121 that shipped in April 1958 to Portland, OR.

I have a 29-1 S228960 that has been a shooter and back-up for elk. Should I try to find someone to restore it or leave it. Might be interested in selling. Thanks, Bill

Try to post some pictures and let the experts give some honest answers. If you want to sell it, I bet you can find a home for it here on the forum in the classifieds section.
