I had this one that I bought in VG-shooter condition, no box or docs. I liked it okay, but didn't love it, and sold it to the store I worked at in '18 for $800 (loooong story there) and as IIRC they turned it over fast for $1000.

Appears to have square butt grips.Guessing they are conversions(round to square)has hammer mounted firing pin. Guessing $1200-1800 depending on area of country, how long/motivated buyer is. Also how motivated seller is. JMHO

Thank you everyone for your replies. This information helps. The gun is marked 629-2 E. Seller is asking $2,300.00 which I thought was high.

That is a very cool revolver. I believe the 629-2E is fairly rare. I thought that the Classic Hunter started with 629-3; however, it did start in 1989 with a 629-2. The barrel looks like it started life as 3" based on where the roll marks fall. I have not heard of a 629-2 with a 3" barrel, but the "E" indicates that it was unusual anyway. A factory letter would be worth it for this one!

All that said, $2,300 is a bit high IMHO without a letter confirming that it left the factory with that 3" barrel and an unfluted cylinder.

Edit: I found a dead link to a Tyler Gun Works ad for a 3" 629-2

Back in the early fall of 2022 a gun club I am a member of, had a swap meet, with FFL's present for firearm transfers. At the time, I had two 629-2E's, so I brought that and some of my other duplicates for sale. I ended up doing a sale/trade for a LNIB, Colt Stainless MK IV 70 series government model 1911, from the custom shop. Complete with white outer sleeve, custom shop blue two-piece cardboard box, and all the normal accoutrements. Plus 500 dollars to me for this one. It also had the original box with documents, but as I recall, no tools.
