I have an opportunity to grab one with slight finish wear, one mag, no box or papers for $225.00...need some info/opinions please.

Con: ugly finish, plastic sights

Pro: 100% reliable, mine has decent trigger, nice carry gun.

$225 is a VERY good price. Go for it.

Generally any holster that will fit a 3913 works for a 908.

After market night sights available from Trijicon.

The 908 is part of the old Economic series. a la the 915, 410, and a compact .45 . The 908 was based on the 3913 but cheaper. Single sided safety (IIRC, and a plastic guide rod. The finish wasn't the greatest,but it seemed like a well put togher pistol. For $225 I say go for it. Midway USA lists the 908 and 3913 magazines as the same for $33.

I am generally not a first post responder. I read a lot more than I comment. I purchased a LNIB 908 months ago. I love the feel of the gun and think that you will like it. I paid more than your price but have no regrets. It does have the plastic guide rod. Some say replace it, others do not feel it is an issue. I have not done so. I think that the 908, 410, 457 were part of the "Value" series which then became the "American Pride" series. I think that you will enjoy it.

Yeah at that price get it! I bought a used one too and have fired off more than a 1k rounds with zero problems. Only JHP I have tried were the Federal 9pb. I recommend this pistol fully.

As mentioned Trijicon has sights for it. In regards to a holster the 908 strangely fits ok in a Bianchi Blackwidow that is for a 45xx series.

If you haven't already, grab that 908 for $225. You'll never regret it. Replace the grip with a Hogue, and you'll have a nice, ergonomic, compact 9mm that's very accurate and reliable. Great little pistols! Love mine.

I purchased a new 908S in July and now have 2300 rounds through it. Not a hiccup. It has functioned flawlessly. I have added Hogue grips, Trijicon sights, and replaced the plastic spring rod with the one for the 3913. I also have a Galco holster for a 3913. It fits beautifully.
For $225 don't let it go.

ANY Smith & Wesson is worth $225.00 if it will shoot halfway straight and not blow up in your hand. You can make fifty to seventy five bucks profit if you DON'T like it! Grab it while you can.

I have a 457 that is an awesome gun - from the same Value Line of S&W pistols.

But a friend purchased a new 908 that was a lemon - riddled with FTF, stovepipes, etc. It wouldn't get through a single magazine without issue. Even after a trip back to S&W it would only run OK with hot 9mm loads. Typical lower pressure range ammo like WWB or Federal AE, Rem UMC wouldn't run.

This person is going to trade it off on something else. She bought it because the 908 feels great in the hand, but it soured her on S&W unfortunately.

I have both the 457 and the 908S. Both are great. the 908S has a steel recoil spring guide and I don't worry about the plastic sights. It is very thin and makes a great carry gun. I alter between it and a 637 and a Bersa 380. The 457 is a little too big for me to carry, so it is a range/house gun.
