hello to everyone, just needing some information on a Smith & Wesson 17–2 in good shape matching serial number on handles. No box has a little wearing on the end of the barrel ran into it and the guy wants $500. I think that’s a pretty good deal. Any thoughts? Thanks.

My 17-2 was $575 Buy it Now on G.B. The prices keep going up on them. Mine is accurate! Bob

Carefully check for any bubba gunsmithing or other deficits. If it is in time and shows no damage to back of cylinder, etc then buy it. You will enjoy it for years to come.

Sorry, one more question just to make sure it was made in 1965 as best as I can tell can someone double check and see if that is correct? Serial number is K652915

That is a terrific price for a 17-2, I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Can you post pictures of it? We would all like to see it. :)

For comparison, I bought a 17-3 two weeks ago at a local shop, I paid $675 after tax. Mine dates to 1971 and it had the incorrect stocks on it, but luckily they are the correct ones for my 586 no dash and that's where they ended up. Bought a set of NOS era correct Target stocks for it and also have a set of Magna's for it.

This is my first .22 caliber revolver and so far I am really enjoying it and expect many years of fun shooting with it.

I am a fan of early Smith and Wesson .22 Cal., 38, Cal. revolvers. Most of which are guns that are readlealy available for under 6 to 8 clams. I have a 17-3 an early 63 (Stag grips, no lock) an early 15. What else should I add in this class?
