Not at all rare..... but hard to come by as folks who have them tend to keep them. 3inch k-frames are highly sought after these days....... LOL almost couldn't give them away in the late 80s and 90s.

Popular for concealed carry since the 1980s( I've had one since about 87/88) the blue version Model 13 was the FBI last issue revolver....

Value depends on market .....places like CAlf, Mass and Conn. have restrictions that limit importation of guns from out of state..... here in W.Pa. ... $550 to 700 depending on the shop and the knowledge of the sellers......many now are clued in and will list something like that on the internet at top $$$..... others will buy/take on trade....... mark it up a percentage or $ 100-200 and stick it in the case for sale.......


Base on one picture your's looks in very good shape and should bring top dollar......

Welcome to the Forum. BAM-BAM is exactly correct. The Model 65 with 3.0 inch barreled configuration was the last issued revolver by the DEA. I'm lucky enough to own 3 different 3.0 inch barreled K-frames a 64-3, a 13-3 and a 65-3. Now if I could only find a (affordable) Model 65 Ladysmith.

Thanks. I did not realize the 65 was the stainless version of the model 13.
My brother had a 3 inch model13 in the 80s
 
I found a private sale of a 65-2 with barely seen marks for $300. I think the guy just needed money. So, I gave him three hundred dollars cash. No brainer. Sold! Great little revolver. Not sure they are rare, most owners hang on to them.
 
These come with wood grips or Pachmayr grips or wood
Bought a decent used one today fixed sights
with Pachmayr finger rolls grips

You've got yourself one of the best Smith ever made! I've had mine since the 1980's and it is my Woods walking and hiking gun. When in the Woods I stoke it with Buffalo Bore 180 grain Hard Cast LSWC .357's. Out of the 3" tube they do over 1,300 fps and is more than adequate for where I hike. Portable enough to always have with me in the woods. :)
 
Picked up a 65-3 yesterday at a gun show for $425 out the door. The turn line is barely visible. Can't wait to try it out.
 
I think the 3-inchers are relatively scarce and much sought after. Here's what I have for a track on the model:

Smith & Wesson 65 3 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Mag. Blue Book of Gun Values (38th Edition) indicates between $450 in 98% condition with no value published for 100% condition for this gun. I have 37 recorded prices for guns represented as 95% or better using local and internet sources for this gun from $449 to $900 over a period of 1493 days ending October 27, 2017. The average price as of that date was $644. Current or last MSRP is $563. The last 13 prices I have for this model since 3/13/2016 range from $600 to $900 averaging $724.

I owned this 65-6 for a while:

I picked mine up last year for just a hair under $500 OTD - no box, just the gun with Uncle Milke's 3-finger grips. It was about 90% due to damage to the knurling on the end of the ejector rod. A $7 part from Midway and now it's a 95% gun. It would take a heck of a sweet offer to get me to part with it.

Where can I find these grips?
I have a Model 66-1 snub that I would like to put those on.
I've looked around a bit but no luck.
I'm not even sure who the manufacturer is.

Yep, and from what I can tell they are no longer available for purchase...at least not new ones. I recently changed out my old Pachmayr grips for Hogue Bantam grips. Both the Pachmayr and Hogue grips are very good, but I was originally looking for the Uncle Mike grips and couldn't find them anywhere.
 
I have a 66 and a 686 with those Uncle Mikes grips, I have a 65-3 Lady Smith that has those little rosewood smooth grips. While they look nice, those grips are hard for me to shoot with. Been looking for some new old stock Uncle Mikes, they are getting harder to find in any condition. I remember when they were a dime a dozen a few years back.
