The photos make them look like they might have a ton of holster wear, but Summit gun brokers have some smokin hot deals on 3rd generation guns. I saw some 5906s and 6906s under 3 bills.

Hey, just so you know, it's my job to tempt you with great gun deals, not the other way around, MMMMMkay.

Maybe so, but I am immune to such tempting, mostly because I am flat broke most of the time. I am thinking about stretching the card a bit for one of those 6906s though. Maybe Christmas will be good this year.

In fact I just rec'd one of the 6906's from Summit. PD marked, scuffed a little, checked out by my gunsmith/FFL = OK, excellent value.
I'm happy...

Square or round trigger guard? Could you post some pictures of the PD markings? Thanks!

I've been eyeing one of these as a Christmas present for myself to go along with my 3913, which I love.

I'm not ignoring you, I've just been so darn busy. I got the square guard by not specifying the more expensive round one !
As you should be able to see, the PD mark says WPPD 239. A Google for WPPD came up " Winter Park Police Dept ", which of course may or may not be correct. I don't collect, so I really don't have much interest, just mild curiosity.
I have not shot the pistol, too busy, so no range report..

I'd love to hear a full range report on that! I love that configuartion....You're a lucky man....Zebulon

My friend and I just got a couple of the squared ones. Same story with the holster wear and same PD marking (numbers about 25 apart and straddling the one pictured. I have been working all weekend, but he said it was the hit of his "Redneck Thanksgiving". 300 rounds and grins aplenty. Mark at Summit also has spare mags that look pretty good at a good price.

WPPD could also be White Plains PD. Not sure they carry now or have in the past.

I prefer the square trigger guard. I ordered two 6906s and two 4006s. At that price I couldn't pass them up.

Mark at Summit was a really nice guy.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does the 6906 compare in size to the 3913?

Thinking about one of these for my son as he travels in some bad areas of town in his job.

Probably about the same in slide length and grip length, but the 6906 will be considerably thicker, due to it's double stack magazine. The 3913 will be very flat, more conceable.

I just received two 6906 and two 4006 from Mark. Super deal-super guy.

I think in general that third gen. S&W's are over looked by many in favor of what I might consider hyped guns. I picked up a very nice 6904 this past spring for under $ 200.00 and I have been looking for a 6906...... thanks for the heads up I'll check out Summit.
