Smooth target grips

What are the early 70's smooth target grips worth? I see pricing all over the place. I understand they were used on special editions. Is this true?

Anywhere from $75 to $200, maybe more. They were used on a lot of commemorative guns but S&W also sold them as replacements and I imagine you could order a gun with them.
N frames usually bring more $ with the type of wood and pretty grain pushing the value.
As usual condition plays a big part.

Most people up here call them Presentation grips and yes they can be pricey.

Actually....

"Presentation" Stocks have a relief cut on BOTH panels. The left hand panel is cut for cartridge clearance, either a "football" or "scallop" relief. The right hand panel is cut to maximize the exposed area of of the sideplate for engraving. Ergo "Presentation" stocks.

Here's an example of true "Presentation" Stocks on an 18-3.

Note the cut outs in both panels.

"Target Stocks", either smooth or checkered, do not have an engraving relief in the right hand panel and it is incorrect to refer to them as "Presentation" stocks.

The value of "Smooth Targets" varies substantially with the S&W frame size they fit, the species of wood used to make them and from the era they were produced.
