I've had a Snapper for 3-4 years. Bought it for same reason as the OP, price. Had a Toro Recycler for several years, wanted another one, but a new one cost almost $1000. One thing. Before starting the Snapper for the first time in the Spring, take the bowl off the carb and clean out the dirt. If you don't, it'll plug the carb up in a heartbeat. The other thing is, while the Snapper mulches OK, my old Toro mulched better the day it died than the Snapper ever has. Good luck.
