Went out early this morning to feed horse, mules, and chickens and the snow was coming down in big heavy flakes. Looked like it was going to be piling up.

So, after chores, went back into the house, put another log in the wood-burning stove, got out the sourdough crock, made a big loaf of sourdough bread, and set it out to rise. I figured I'd better take charge of supper for tonight because Judy is busy taking down the Christmas decorations. (She decorates the inside of the house in a big way for the holidays.)

Then got out the big soup pot and made some vegetable beef soup with lots of beef, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, beans, garlic, and corn from the garden. Let that simmer on the back burner of the ol' gas range for most of the day.

Wanted to include some pictures but couldn't get the photos to download. So...I guess you folks will just have to trust me...it was darn good and perfect for a cold winter's evening.

By the way...there's plenty left over, so if you're in the neighborhood, drop by.:)

Not much for cold, but I could murder a fresh loaf of sourdough. :D Haven't had a good one since I was in Alaska in 1980.

Sounds like a right fine dinner on a cold snowy day sir.
Wife has been cooking a big old chunk of Cow meat
in her slow cooker. It will be paired up with carrots,
taters, onion in the morning. My lunch wednesday looks
to be promising. Good stuff!!!!!
