Snowmaggeddon in Seattle

Sorry - but 4" doesn't qualify as a snowfall where I live. We don't have expressways to worry about and our deer can swim through the snow. The picture is a rare sighting of a deer surfacing for a breath of fresh air:D

Geez - now your getting 55 mph winds and rain?? What did you guys do over there to PO the BIG GUY? Must of done something bad!

Best batten down the hatches, keep your waders close at hand - you might need em with these winds - 40 degrees and rain melting everything, floods could be next! My sons place is on a hillside - hope he doesn't slide down into the sound!

Pete

Good luck on the ice Jim. Ice storms suck. And yup we are about to become Food and Windmaggeddon! We get That slot though so it shouldn't be as bad for everyone. We will loose more trees though. Maybe delay getting the power back too.

But! The real tragedy in WA is that the Puyallup gun show was canceled. The heat in the building seems to be out. Got an email from GOAL yesterday.

All ya gotta do is talk go some of them yayhoo yuppies downtown or the hippie retread occurs and you'll know why the Man is p.o.ed

Funny,I been sitting here thinking about all of this and I don't ever remember seeing a stuck vehicle in my formulative years.(1960-1970).
and this was before the advent of the four wheel drive phenom. My first car was 66 Mustang that I drove everywhere winter and summer and never had a problem. That includes many trips on I80 to State College,Pa.Matter of fact my Dad once told me "You don't need no four wheel drive, they cost too much to fix."I remember walking to school in a foot or better of snow.Wow,guess I really am old.

Nomageddon

It's been an easy winter so far in Minnesota. There's no snow to speak of, just a light dusting. It did finally get cold, though. Yesterday it was -11°F. with a fresh breeze when I got up, and topped out at 0°. Just another day in paradise.

Without snow cover, there will be some frozen septic systems.

I learned that 4wd is for getting out, you never lock the hubs till after you're stuck.
You and I won't lock the hubs in, but all those "other" folks who run around with those AWD mini vans think they are automatically invincible. Another example of technology trying to make up for experience.

Day 6 of being snowed/iced/treed' in, though I think I can finish clearing a way out tomorrow with the amount of melt that is taking place tonight.

That's good because the wife and I are starting to get on each others nerves and one of us is going to need to leave the house for awhile. :)

Saw the sun for a bit. No power yet but I'm hopeful for tomorrow. Looks like the worst of it is done but they're saying high winds tomorrow. Nice to have a fireplace!

Meanwhile in Wyoming, we've got 12" of snow and 50 mph winds and wind chills in the -50's and the weather channel says "oh yeah, it snowed some in the Rockies too"[/IMG]

Yeah, if it stays this warm much longer, I'm gonna break out the Hawaiian shirts and flip flops. Bet that puts an image in your mind you don't really wanna have there!

I'm at the bottom of a short hill at the end of a cul-de-sac. Finally got the car dug out, with help from the 40 degree rain melting things.

Flat tire. Nail. *sigh*

Oh well. Better to find out today than at 6 AM tomorrow.

Thus endeth the Great Seattle Snowmageddon, 2012 version.

We will now begin the Great Northwest Floodpocalypse, 2012 version.

I'll post some pictures later. Maybe.
