Snub Nose compact 45 Colt

Only one? Can't I have one? Unfortunately, they've already dedicated the L frame to their new .44 Mag and that holds 5 rounds. The .45LC is wider than the .44 casing; can't see them going for a 5-shot LC in a K frame. Have to be a K frame, IMO, for an EDC.

Changed my mind: Can't I have 2?

I'd like to see something along the lines of that 5 shot 44 special that smith made having the hammer shroud similar to a model 38 or 49, but in 45 Auto rim.

I do not have measurements so I do not know what cylinder frame would work. I would think a K frame might work. This may could be done in 45 Long Colt.

I had the Taurus model it was heavy, shot okay the porting helped but not something I want on a carry gun. I carried it once of twice and it wasn't difficult.

Since they were able to squeeze 5 rounds of .44 magnum into the L frame, maybe they could squeeze 5 rounds of .44 special into a K frame. 5 rounds of .44 Special in a K frame would be amazing.

I would really like to see some L frames in 45 cal. Taurus did it in their L frame sized revolver and now that they have made the forcing cone end of the barrel bigger it should be doable. The forcing cone on the Taurus 45 was very thin.

I would much rather have one in 45 ACP and moon clips. One could cut a 45 Colt model to take ACPs and moon clips but there is one problem with this modification. I have 3 S&W revolvers that I have modified to fire both. First part of the problem is the 45 Colt has a very small amount of rim. Its rim diameter is .002 smaller than a 44 and its chamber is bigger. So a 45 Colt has a .016 rim and a 44 mag has a .029. This causes 45 Colt cases to sometimes slip by the extractor as the ejector star gets over half way out. Not bad if you have the gun muzzle up as you extract, but I have had it happen on all my 45 Colts, modified for ACP or not. Main thing is if one wanted the chambers cambered for quick reloads it would cause very unreliable extraction in 45 Colt. Not so in 45ACP with moon clips. 45ACP has every thing needed as a self defense round in a snub and with the clips would give reliable extraction and quick reloads with cambered chambers.

Just my 2 cents worth. I am going to start looking for model 69 and convert it.

Standard .45 Colt Loads with a 250/255gr bullet, is enough to do the job at close range and it does not generate too much pressure.

A 5 shot snub in the design similar to a Charter .44 Bulldog, with just a little more metal, could handle the .45 with no problems.

I'll take two as well!

I would love to see Smith and wesson develope a 45 colt that could be an edc. Similiar to the one Taurus built some years ago but Id like to see the S&W quality in it.

Why wouldn't the Governor work for that? Lightweight & versatile.

I'll stick with my .44's

I wish the S&W 627 snubbies were readily available. I have been on the hunt for awhile. I don't know how it could get much better with 8 shots of 357mag.
