My brother called me to pass on a deal today, since he has no interest in any K frames, and I was offered a 2.5 inch 19-4 in nickel. For the princely sum of $200, my wallet came out so fast it has scorch marks.

No box or dox, just the gun with grips that are not original.

The serial number is 75K17XX. Shouldn't that place this gun around 1980?

The very best, but I knew that long before today.

As a side note, I also found a local source for 50 round boxes of the Remington 158 grain LSWCHP +P loads, for about $30 each. I can get it slightly cheaper online, but the shipping costs ruin the deal. Out of a snub gun, this is, IMO, probably an excellent load. Especially considering I can load my own cast bullets to mirror it's ballistics in practice for pennies per round.

Is there anybody who still carries this load, or am I behind the times?

There are still some that swear by that Load but a lot have moved onto newer Bullet designs that reliably expand at lower velocities.

I have a few boxes of +P 125 Gold Dots, but the expansion at snub velocities is very iffy. From my 5 inch 27, they expand VERY nicely and reliably, but I don't have the extra barrel here.

Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135 grain .38 Special +P hollow point is probably the definitive modern snubby load; the old FBI load that you found is still quite capable.

I bought a 2 1/2" Blued 19-4 on the forum a couple of years ago. I logged on and it had literally just posted for $250. I bought it immediately...as fast as I could type "I'll take it". back in THOSE days you could do 2nds etc. (Prior to the new rules)
With in about 10 minutes they were at 5ths and 6ths as I recall. The gun sold in 90 seconds and I was the winner...It was a 90%-95% revolver no box or docs. To this day still the best steal I ever pulled off.
I think this tops that by $50 and about $200-$300 in todays value. Congrats. What a sweet deal.

Well...I can trade you a N frame for it if ya want to...I can do a lot with the K frame, but not so much with the older N frame. If you don't want that, I'll probably sell it.
