I was in my LGS for some range time and waiting to get signed in when I spotted an M&P 10mm in the case. I asked to hold it and I really liked how it felt in my hand. I’ve never been a fan of striker fired pistols and I wish they made a hammer fired version, but I’ll learn to live with it I suppose. Background checks were way backed up, but I got to take it out on the range and put 150 rounds of my 200gr. jacketed Berry’s over 9.3 grains of Bluedot through it. I had one FTF and one stove pipe, but not bad for a brand new out of the box pistol, in my opinion. Trigger reset was good. I could shoot as fast as I could manage to pull the trigger and it never hung up resetting. Many years ago, I owned a couple of Glock 20’s and a 29, but never liked the feel of them and hated the trigger. But I like the feel of the M&P and the trigger, even if it is a little light for my liking. If I get proficient with it, it may even make it into my carry rotation. I like the idea of a lightweight high cap 10mm carry piece in today’s world and my EAA is just a little too heavy for that. So my question for all of you M&P owners is: who makes a decent leather IWB for it?

Browsing around on the interweb and it looks like spare mags are hens teeth. Anyone know of any available other than the one on GB at $80+ and two bids with more than a day to go?

My hat's off to you for buying an M&P 10mm despite all of the notoriety it has received in recent weeks on the Forum. It looks like you've bought a good one. Please keep us updated about its performance as your round count increases.

I recently purchased an M/P 10 with the.4.6. I have 300 rounds of various types of rounds with no malfunctions. This includes full power HP's. I also installed a Steiner MPS optic which so far I really like.

The going rate around here is $599 + tax.

In 10’s….
I have a bunch of Smith 10xx’s and a Kimber 1911. The 10 has a hard to describe draw for me. Now thinking I need another, possibly the M&P or the Sig P320 X Ten.

There is no "notoriety"

In any product, there will always be a handful of lemons.

As well as unhappy customers that want the world to know how hurt they are to have received those lemons.

It is terrible when the anticipation of a new addition to the stable is shattered by problems. I feel the pain of anyone that has received a lemon and tried to resolve the issue.

I hope that the OP of that other thread is satisfied with the final outcome

There are many, many thousands of other M&P 10MM pistols out in the market that are not giving their owners any issues, I am the owner of one of them

Just a little more here. Mine was $678 out the door with tax and NICS. I could have saved a few bucks elsewhere, but I would have had to wait a few days for it.

I just picked it up this afternoon on the way home. First time I’ve had a NICS check take overnight, but I heard they’ve been pretty swamped as of late.

I think it’s the 4” model that is giving some people fits.

Mine’s the 4.6”. I’m pretty happy how it ran right out of the box. I’ve had Sigs that had more hiccups in the first 150 rounds. I’m hoping to put another couple of hundred through it sometime during the week.

I'd definitely encourage everyone to test their 10mm M&Ps with heavier loads *and* one-handed firing. In my experience, light loads combined with a two-handed grip can significantly mitigate the recoil-induced malfunction (mag drops) I experienced.

But sometimes pistols need to be shot one-handed, and a pistol that falls apart when shot one-handed is no good.

The 10MM Auto is a cartridge that I fell for as soon as it came out.

I currently own 15 firearms chambered for the 10MM Auto cartridge and 4 firearms chambered for the 10MM Magnum

The first ones were a Delta Gold Cup and a 1006 both bought in 1990. I still own both.

I know I need to re-shoot this picture
it was taken 20 years ago

The most recent addition is the M&P 10MM Auto

The one that puts the biggest smile on my friends faces is also the most EXPENSIVE to shoot. That is my MP5/10

SMGs are not very expensive to buy if you compare then to what they cost to feed over a lifetime of ownershop

If you are looking for the next, may I suggest one of the Model 610 revolvers. If you are a hand loader the chambers can be lengthened to accept the 10MM Magnum cartridge. This will yeild an additional 200-400 FPS depending on the projectile, These are exceptional revolvers

If your heart is set on an auto loader, the Tangfolio family of ELITE pistols is quite fine and have been reasonably priced over the years.

Range report

Stopped by the range on the way home this afternoon and put another 360 rounds through it for a total round count of 510. I didn’t plan out which ammo to take, except the XTP’s. I just grabbed what was most accessible in my ammo locker.

Breakdown in order as follows:

1. 100 rounds 175 gr. LSWC over 6.5 gr. Unique
The M&P really liked these. No malfunctions and soft shooting.
I was able to stay on target once I got the hang of the light
recoil.

2. 210 rounds 180 gr. LFP over 10gr. Blue Dot.
These were some pretty stout rounds with heavy recoil, and I
was all over the place until I got some control over them. I
even tried several mags off the rest just to see if they were
actually going where I thought I was aiming. The M&P
wasn’t too fond of these, with FTF’s and stove pipes at least
every third mag or so. I think it was getting pretty fouled up
at this point, so with a good cleaning, I’m hoping for better
results. I normally only shoot these in my 610 and SRH.

3. 50 rounds 200 gr. Hornady XTP over 8.6 gr. Longshot.
Heavy heavy recoil, but ran like a champ with no malfunctions,
despite the fouling of over 450 rounds down range.
I used these for rapid fire, as fast as I could pull the
trigger on a man sized target at 15 feet. Not the best
marksmanship, but I’ll take it considering the recoil.

Here are some of my targets:

I’m starting to look at optics now and kinda leaning towards the Holosun 507c with green reticule. Any one have any thoughts on this?

I was going to post in my range report post that I can’t wait to get my extra mags. I would probably have shot more if I didn’t have only 2 mags. Running that many rounds through only two mags was a royal PITA. Maybe one of those uplula things too…I must be gettin old!:D

Love my UpLula and it's the best time saver, I can think of. Tough mags that won't except the final round are doomed!

Condescending tripe.

Bill Clinton-ish preachiness right there. Not at all helpful to the many 10mm M&P purchasers with a defective problem-gun, like the O.P. (two of them now) in the other thread running here.

I hope that the OP of that other thread is satisfied with the final outcome There are many, many thousands of other M&P 10MM pistols out in the market that are not giving their owners any issues, I am the owner of one of them
An example of one that works is still an example of one, which is meaningless over the many reported ones that don’t. ... But you already knew that.

I can go along with ALL of that. I’ve got one too - no issues. I hope the guys who have problems can get them resolved pronto.
