So I fired my M&P exactly six times the other day and then...

The slide locked back! Because all the ammunition I had loaded into the magazine had been expended. The target was hit exactly where I wanted it to be and the spent casings were ejected positively and were recovered without incident. I ensured the weapon was indeed clear and then lowered the slide and depressed the trigger in a safe direction. I then took the weapon home and field stripped, cleaned, lubricated and reassembled it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my M&P and now it's ready for another adventure.

Darn, you beat me to it. I was totally planning on writing about how fantastic my M&P 9 FS works. So far only 450 rounds but no problems what so ever. I love this gun!!!

I was being to feel like all these problem threads were making hypochondriacs of us all. Welcome to the first meeting of the Brotherhood of Functional M&P's!
Membership requirements are simple:
• Own an M&P handgun that is safe and functional
• Understand and accept its purpose, capabilities, and limitations
• Refrain from unwarranted gripes or attempts to reinvent the wheel

It's funny the OP mentions this. Because me, my ole lady and my little brother all 3 have a .40 Shield thats also converted to 9mm. Neither of us 3 have ever had a single problem with ours either.

It's amazing how flawless a weapon can be compared to some of those others that have a RECALL going on right now. (cough cough).

Have you called S&W CS to see what they say about this?

I've heard the horror stories about S&W CS, so I decided to see for myself. The person I spoke to had the gall to tell me there was nothing they could do about this problem!!!!
:p

I love this thread. It urks me how much user error is involved with these "Failure" threads. Biggest pet peeve is the slide release threads. Around 15,000 rounds total through all of my M&Ps without failure and still running strong!

Great thread! Over 1000 rounds through a stock FS M&P 9 without a problem. I just shoot it and clean it.

My brother has an M&P 9mm that he has put over 12,500 rds thru with no issues. He shoots competition with it so he logs how many rds go thru it every time he takes it out. He changes the recoil spring every 5000 rds as a maintenance issue and so far so good.

I am really upset and disgusted all 9 of my S&W M&Ps run flawlessly, and even getting complaints from my wife for the boxes of empty brass of 9mm,40cal,45acp sitting around. Have not had one issue with my 9 or 40 shield. I am really tired of it all!

I'm mostly a revolver guy so I found it acceptable to get bored by six shots. I am proud of my brothers with longer attention spans however.

@jepkr: Sounds like your reloading machine needs a workout brother. Better make sure it's still functional....:D

Does anyone have any suggestion for a FTM (Failure to Misfire) issue with my FS9mm M&P?

Try as I may, it still pumps them through effortlessly.;)
