So today I bought a 180 dollar box of ammo.

Through those type of purchases I have a good supply of ammo for guns I don't own. Yes, I could sell it, but then I would find a great deal on one of those guns. It costs nothing to store, so I guess I won't take the chance.

I have a 722 it's a triple duece so I have an idea of what to look for now as I like them.

If you find a nice 722 in 222 mag...It won't be cheap...but will be worth having. I sold both my 22-250 and 220 Swift when I found the 222 mag...As accurate or more so..only 100-150 fps slower than the average 22-250. Use a lot less powder...SRPs instead of large and I happen to have lots of powder that works in the caliber. I might lose 25-50 yards in range but it IS windy out here in flyover Wyoming. BTW both the 222 and 222 mag bbls will last a long time

I did the same kind of purchase several times. One huge lot of ammo and guns related merchandise from a retired gun writer and the last lot from a retired contributor of Handloading Digest. Scads of oddball stuff. I have plenty of 7mm Weatherby ammo should somebody be so kind as to gift me such a rifle in this chambering. Plenty of 43 Mauser brass, and 348 Winchester goodies. Make a financial killing on the stuff. Still have plenty to get rid of.

When getting out of the Navy, my brother wanted me to buy him a 375 rifle.
He almost shot a whole box of 20 rounds, before he sold it.

I still have my Winchester model 70 in .270, that I brought back.

However one could see dust on a mountain side a mile away with the 375 "Pill" !

My 375 was a prewar M-70 I bought while in Alaska. That thing was a beast but it was a grizz killer. Great on moose but not really necessary. A client shot a very wet moose after he came out of the muskeg. Made a real spray of water etc when it hit. He didn't get back to the muskeg though. I sold it to a fellow I knew going to Africa. He used it on almost everything according to him. He got a great Kudu and a very good Cape Buffalo

When Tombstone moved to Ware they had a table of "not new" ammo as you walked in the door.Yours looked familiar. I scrounged a fairly big box of items and thought your haul might have been from the same hoard. Guess not ;)

I also have a Remington 722 but mine is chambered in .222 Remington not .222 Remington Magnum.

BTW, $130 for that box full of ammo was a smoking deal!!!

A friend and I buy boxes like that from estate sales. Take out what we want and give the rest to another friend that has tables at a gun show to sell. Sometimes we make a buck or two, sometimes we break even and a few times we lose a bit. In the end it all averages out.
