So what have you read recently? what are reading?

I also have a Kindle 2 and I love it. If you have one, or just thinking you might get one, go to the Kindle Book site on Amazon and search for your favorite writers. If a book you would like to read isn't yet available on Kindle, click on the little button that says "I'd like to read this book on my Kindle." If enough of us ask for Elmer Keith, Peter Capstick, Bill Jordan, etc. they may make it available.

Forum member Don Bredes (Bellevance) is available on Kindle.

Oh yes, the Kindle has a reader built in. If the author and publisher allow it, buying the Kindle book gets you the audio book included for no additional cost. Just play it on the Kindle with or without ear phones.

I like the Kindle a lot.... I think you might like it if you tried one.
Thank you, David, for that extended write-up of your experience. That smaller version might be just the ticket!

Thank you, too, Highlander, about the audio book for free included aspect. That's a darn good deal.

Think I'll nip over to Amazon and check it out.

Reading is Good!

I am about finished reading, "Breakout" by Martin Russ. It is an account of the Marines fight at the Chosin Reservoir with the massive Chinese Army forces sent to destroy them. After I finish that I will be reading, "Soldat" by Siegfried Knappe and Ted Brusaw. The subtitle is, "Reflections of a German Soldier, 1936-1949". I primarily read history books, particularly military history and books on science and travel and philosophy. I am retired and have time to read and a library card. The public libraries are the best thing this city offers...and its FREE!(Well, free except for the taxes we pay)...

Just reread "Dirty White Boys", by Stephen Hunter. Even better ten years later. "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", by somebody Swedish. Better than I expected. "A Most Wanted Man", John le Carre. Always good, but the George Smiley stuff is still the best. "Bangkok Tattoo" and "Bangkok Haunts", John Burdett's excellent sequels to the splendid "Bangkok 8".

Just started "Saturday", by Ian McEwan.
