Why's it called a 'BBQ Gun'?

When them folks down in the SW decide to scorch a little beef and have a snort or two, they polish their boots, slick back their hair if they got any left and wax their mustache.
They straps on their "spiffyest" Brill or Uncle Tio rig and stuff in the shinyest gun they own.

Then they strut around whilst the meat's a burnin' and decide amongst themselves who gits the braggin' rights until the next big beef burnin' takes place.:D

Now bein' from Wyoming, I ain't got a clear pictcher of all of the in's and out's of all of this goin's on, but I think mebbe you can get an idea of what's it's all about.;)

This wouldn't cause much of a stir in Texas, but it'll dazzle them in Wyoming.

I feel that any of these fine revolvers will qualify...

A BBQ gun is a "Sunday go to meetin'" gun, not necessarily for shooting, but just for showin' off. I have a few that might qualify.

John

First, a couple of Model 27-2s; a 5-inch nickel and a 3.5 inch blued:

This should impress the rank & file:

This pair of custom Ruger Vaqueros usually gets the "old west" crowd going:

This Kimber .45 is one my favorites:

This nickeled Python gets an admiring glance now and then:

Excuse me, do you mind if I park my Thompson here on this table while I mosey over to the grill?

Funny you should ask about this one - my uncle got it from a rather unwilling Japanese soldier on Guadalcanal one afternoon. Don't you like its looks?

Palidin,You did real good up until the last one. It's Bar-B-Q
not Sushi Bar.;):D:D:D

Interesting gun though.What is it?

Japanese Type 94 Nambu pistol, made in September, 1941. Don't you like its classic flowing lines, exquisite finish and stylish grips?????

John

It's a beauty.I really think the trigger return spring sets it apart from all of the others.
Good thing that fellow didn't get a chance to use it on your uncle. My great uncle brought back a Luger. That's what makes these guns so special,Our uncles made it back.

Where I live the winner of a BBQ Gun Contest is when the Nu Oleans Pimps who be da judges say, "My God, I wouldn't even carry that, it's too gaudy."

Yup, we use them for Marryin's and Buryin's too.;)

Well, it ain't real fancy, but how about the 1926 .44 Special with the lowest known serial number? It was shipped to Wolf & Klar on January 27, 1927. It was one of 75 and all were 5" nickel.

I was at the annual Colt Collectors meeting yesterday in KC and I can tell you I have never seen as many "Barbecue Guns" in one place. All kidding aside it was very impressive and like collectors everywhere a great bunch of people to be around and visit with. A couple of us did lower our voices a little and used the S&W word as well. It is interesting how many of us like and collect both.
