Hi folks,

The T-grip thread got me to go through the grip drawer, and I realized that despite a full drawer, nothing is 'just right.'

I have large hands, and the Tyler adapter was a good way to fill the excess space, but the material is in the wrong area for a perfect fit. I would need a 'reverse' T-grip, with the swell coming at the rear of the grip, for a perfect trigger reach.

The closest thing I've seen were some j-frame Herrett Shooting Star grips, that have an open FRONT strap and more material in the rear.

Are there other grips in this configuration ? Open frontstrap with more junk-in-the-trunk ?

Thanks!

None that I'm aware of. The closest I've seen is BluMagnum grips. They make a boot grip for the J-frame that fills in the front and covers the backstrap. They're open to custom alterations of their designs, so they may be able to accommodate you. They may be able to do that for their grips on other frame sizes, too. They are on the expensive side, though.

It would be ugly but you could cut some neoprene to fit over the rear of the grips and hold it with rubber bands to see if your groups improve. Get some of the 3mm thickness for fly tying or hobbies.

For my J-frame Centennials I prefer the Karl Nill grips.

They fit my big paws to a "T" (I guess the pun is obvious), but they do cover the front and back of the grip handle.

I haven't tried the Nill grips for a revolver with an exposed hammer.

Some kind of custom stocks are probably your only option. Or target type grips, maybe fat Hogues or something.

I don't have particularly large hands but I never liked Ruger's grips on the Security Six snubbie I bought a zillion years ago. People always laugh when they see this but man-o-man does this ever work for me with this gun.

Another vote for Nill Griffe grips. They're like squeezing a bar of clay, but with beautiful wood. Not much on the front, great fill-in behind the trigger guard, and some meat on the back - mostly at the top.

If you don't mind rubber grips, the Pachmayr Decelerators have a large pad on the rear of the grip frame, and if you have big hands they should work well.

By the way, the reverse of a T-Grip should be P-Irgt. You're welcome! :)

Thanks for the laugh, and the suggestion. :D

I tried the Decelerators on my M69, and the grip forced my middle finger into trigger guard. This led to a blister and their subsequent sale.

I'm not laughing. I love full size grips on short barreled revolvers!
