Here is a CCI MiniMag that somehow managed to miss the crimp station. Luckily I was paying attention when I unloaded my CZ bolt action rifle when I took a break while hunting. At first i thought i had forgot to reload the chamber after my last shot but noticed the unburnt powder even though i had dropped the magazine. Otherwise I might have rammed another round into the chamber behind the separated bullet. Note marked on nose of bullet from cleaning rod.

CCI is good ammo, but a little overrated, and overpriced for me. I tend to avoid CCI if at all possible. I prefer Federal bulk, and M-22.

My M15-22 seems to prefer the federal but the WW and CCI work fine too. A bazillion years ago when I was a teen Federal was pretty bad. We shot many thousand of them one 50 round box at the time. We would stop by Gibson's on the way home from school and spend 45¢ on a box then go straight to the woods. We got squibs, lots if failures to fire but I would just eject the round and run it through again in my Marlin 881 bolt action. My friends that had auto loaders had a lot of issues but took it in stride.

The M15-22 is the only "auto" rifle I have ever owned but I just accept the occasional FTF's and FTE to be part of automatics. My friends always had them in their automatics regardless of make of rifle or ammo.

In my 50 or so years of shooting .22 LR this CCI is the only failure of this kind I have ever seen.

I have shot CCI ammo for many years and it has been very reliable in virtually all my guns. The only exception was a PardiniSP which preferred the European WolfMT or SKJAgd ammo.

You got a real anomaly there, Friend! But figuring the millions of rounds of .22 that goes through the manufacturing process in a day or so, it would be supernatural for nothing ever to go amiss. Still, of all the types of consumer .22LR out there (subtracting match-grade ammo), CCI seems to generally be highly rated for reliability. Spoil your day at the range? Probably. And exercised your vocabulary some also? Again, probably. If it was .50 BMG at three or four-bucks a round then you would really have something to be upset about!

I'm pretty sure if you contacted them you would get an entire box for free. I always say give the company the opportunity to make it right. If they don't, the net is a powerful tool.

My 15-22 will eat everything... now that I have the extractor tweaked right it will even use Remington Golden Bullets...

I try to shoot nothing but CCI never a hicup in my 22's... like I've said before in comparison to other caliber ammo... 22 ammo is cheap...

With everything running 24/7 you hope for good quality control but if your in the manufacturing industry going from 2 8hr shifts 5 days a wk to 24/7 almost overnight is a monumental undertaking.

Yup, Golden's run just as reliably as any other ammo. They are just really dirty and the golden flakes are a pain to clean off.
