Selling my favorite 1911. Kids are more important than guns right now. It's a Colt Series 70 Government Model in 45. It's one of the newer 01970A1CS models. Made lots of improvements to match it with my take on the Dan Wesson A2. I sent the slide off to Harrison Designs for their white dot front sight and installed their Retro rear sight. Makes for a great sight picture but keeps the old school look. Installed a Harrison square bottom firing pin stop (like Browning originally designed). This and the 18 pound recoil spring really make it a gentile shooting pistol that can also handle higher performance loads. And it still functions perfectly with standard ball ammo. The ejection port was also lowered and flared to help brass from getting too beat up. The frame has been enhanced with Wilson Combat drop in thumb and grip safeties. The original thumb safety was hard to engage and didn't have a very positive feel when taken off safe. Even after adjustment it never felt right. So I scrapped that for the Wilson. The grip safety made it feel even better. I bobbed the factory hammer and now I've got the "A2" look. The trigger and sear spring are also Harrison Designs and make for just the right trigger reach (medium) and weight. I also replaced the sad looking factory grips with some nice Hogue cocobolo grips and threw in some hex head screws as well. Function is perfect and it shoots really well even with the classic loose Colt slide to frame fit. I've only got 200 or 300 rounds through it and I haven't had any reliability issues with it that I can remember. It cycles ball, HPs, and semi wad cutters. It's a great shooter that I would feel confident to use in a defensive situation. I'd say finish is in the high 90s% and there is no idiot scratch at the slide lock hole.
