Upcoming local government action in Illinois that is supportive of gun rights:

As we know, some urban areas have decided to not assist with some federal laws. In today's news: A new twist on this theme: Some counties in Illinois have officially indicated that they may possibly not enforce some restrictive state gun laws.

What I like about this is that this is grass roots, not from the top down. Maybe this idea will catch on in other states, too. Urban areas with tons of political clout may find that extending their norms to rural areas is not universally appreciated.

Personally, I think co-opting the tactics and terminology of the other side is brilliant.

"Such talk worries Kathleen Willis, a Democratic state representative from suburban Chicago who sponsored some of the gun legislation."

"I don't think you can say, 'I don't agree with the law so I won't enforce it,'" she said. "I think it sends the wrong message."
