It has now been years since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The FIRST YEAR results are as follows:

Australia-wide, homicides were up 3.2 percent.
Australia-wide, assaults were up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies were up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms were up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past few years, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expanded in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and other historical facts prove it.

For example, during WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of
this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

I can't hunt deer with a full auto so we don't need full auto weapons.
There is no reason to have a gun capable of holding more than 10 rounds. So lets pass a ban on high cap mags.
No one should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon with out a permit in most states.
Anyone that is a felon and has served his time should be banned from ever owning a gun.
If a argument with a family member ever escalates to where the LEO is called all parties involved should lose their right to own a gun.
There is no reason for anyone to own a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16"
No one needs a shotgun with a barrel less than 18"
No one needs a handgun with a butt stock.
And the list goes on and on .

And what do we (the Lion of freedom) do?

Nothing!!!

The government has declawed and pulled the teeth of freedom from the Lion and knows we will fall in line with whatever the government tells us to do.

They matter to some, but in an age of emotionalism, what someone feels is often held to be more important than the truth.

We are always in an age of emotionalism, regardless of the time. Facts may be debated and logic seldom changes the way anyone feels about anything. Like it or not, guns represent weapons, weapons represent violence, and people react to violence in a visceral way and are not likely to change their fears just because of a list. There isn't a single argument against gun control that will change the mind of someone who has spent their entire life avoiding unpleasantry.

What was your source of these "facts"? If it was in a bulk email from someone with the subject line, "Some facts you may wish to forward to your friends who fence sit on gun control", I would do some checking before passing these "facts" along.

But that's just me!

From what very little checking I have done, the first instance of this list appeared on the Internet in February, 2008, long before Obama had sewn up the nomination.

They are swayed by emotive stories of little kids killed by drive by shootings. If those thugs didnt have guns, this never would have happened!
Of course if they didnt have cars, shoes, underwear, ammunition etc etc it wouldn't either.

I don't seem to be able to find a reference anywhere in it (regardless of when it originated) linking any of it's contentions to any one party/candidate/ or POTUS?
As far as "facts" go, are you trying to say that the 20th century was NOT by far the bloodiest in history? As well as it not being the bloodiest in the places and time periods listed? And that all of the places listed did not "enjoy" higher levels of gun control? No specific political Pinada was being smacked around in this, merely the mindset of those most often associated with the grabbing of guns. The leap connecting it to/with the guy at the big desk, is one of your own doing.
