Some recent ammo prices

Last month I bought myself a Ruger PC9 Carbine for my birthday.
I asked the guy at the counter if they had any ammo to go with it and he went in the back and brought out two boxes of Browning 9mm 115 gr FMJ ammo. He said only 9mm they sold was for people who bought guns.....50 rounds for a handgun and 100 rounds for a carbine. I paid $19.95/box of 50.

Like you, I often buy ammo for guns I don't yet have...I'm stocking up on Webley .455 ammo and reloading supplies, though I don't have a Webley.
I know one is in my future, and Webley ammo can still be found at decent prices despite the current madness.

I've been thinking (seems less and less as I age) about selling off some safe queens (22-32 HFT; 27-2 Nickle; 36 no dash) and I've determined I'm going to list on this Forum first and foremost but now there's a dilemma in terms.

Currently we can list ONLY guns in the for sale forum for guns. Ammo has to be listed on the accessories for sale sub-set.

MY add I'm thinking should now read (example): ONE (1) box, 50 rounds, 357 Magnum.....$1,600.00 FIRM....comes with FREE Model 27-2, 6" Nickle, possibly unfired, original box, all docs & sealed tools, wooden case, outer cardboard shipping container.

Wonder how long before someone PM's me and says "keep the gun...just want the box of ammo".

For perspective on costs of things we like: Annual membership this fine Forum: less than 1/2 box of quality factory ammo; Lifetime Membership, about the same cost (or less) than a case of quality factory ammo; cost of a Factory Letter from Roy/Don about the cost of 1 box of quality factory ammo.

I WENT TO SMALLER GUN SHOW ON SUNDAY. ALMOST NO AMMO TO BE FOUND. 1 DEALER HAD 2 TABLES OF AMMO. ALL PISTOL BALL $50 PER BOX. EXCEPT 380 $75. BALL 223 M193 $1.25 PER ROUND. SMALL PISTOL PRIMERS WERE $300 PER K.WITH 1 GUY HAVING ONLY 2K.

THE SHOW IS RUN BY A COMMERCIAL RELOADER. HE SOLD ALL HIS 223 RELOADS FOR .92 CENTS PER ROUND AND WAS OUT. HE ALSO NEEDED SMALL PISTOL AND RIFLE PRIMERS. HE WAS WILLING TO PAY $100 PER K FOR EITHER. HE TOLD ME HIS LAST ORDER OF PRIMERS HE HAD DELIVERED COST HIM $70 PER K. FROM DISTRIBUTORS. BRASS DRYING UP. POWDER DRYING UP. JP

I've been thinking the next time I put a gun up for auction I'm going to include a box of ammo. I know I wouldn't want too buy a gun now and then try too find ammo. Larry

I got lucky this morning at Dunhams. Showed up AS they were putting what little they got on the racks. 2 boxes Aguilla 9mm, $14.99 ea. 2 50rd boxes of Aguilla 5.56, $27.99 ea, 1 59rd box of Aguilla.45 long colt cowboy loads, $44.99, and I bought a box each of 12 and 20ga birdshot at $6.99 ea.

Those sage "hoarders" (some people call them that if they have more than 200 rds of ammo in the safe) are sleeping good at night.
The signs of coming strict gun/ammo control and high taxation have been obvious for years. Too bad so many people chose to ignore those signs and any advice to stock up. Pay up!
I truly feel bad for young people who have recently become of age to own firearms.

... I still think once people realize the world is not coming to an end prices will come down to earth but it is going to take a while.

...on the contrary, once people find out just how far the anti-2nds will go to disarm the peasants, and once all ammo is taxed to a point of being unaffordable, current prices would seem a bargain.

I just happened to be poking around on the CCI main site and got 500rds of their Quiet22 subsonics for $49.99, deal didnt last long, but it worked for me.

Dont have a lot of subsonics, from my Rem 511 bolt action they sound about same as air rifle. Pttt

As of now, no .410 found searching on ammoseek.
Plenty of it on GB, but not cheap. Some greedy dealers / sellers are obviously gouging the prices, but the majority of auctions are penny to start. Amazing what people are willing to pay.

I happened to hit a northern Arizona Walmart at just the right time yesterday, and they had LOTS of .22 ammo on the shelves.

I have a lifetime supply of hunting ammo like Mini-Mags and RWS HVHP, but was getting low on my plinking ammo, which is usually Remington Goldens.
They had 8 of the 525 round packs of Goldens @ $24.97 each and maybe 15 of the hundred round packs of Mini-Mags, those were $7.97 per hundred.
They also had Remington Subsonics, CCI Stingers and Winchester .22 Mag.
I bought 5 of the bricks of Goldens, 2,625 rounds for $135.

I have been buying Mini-Mags all summer from Walmart. Nice that someone isn't pricing ammo at 10x what they normally go for.
Some might have bought it all up to resell on Armslist at a handsome profit, but everything I buy will be shot up by me.

• 1K = $339.99
• 600 = $203.88
• 1200 = $407.88
• AVERAGE $0.32rd

And today the unobtainable price at MWUSA for ONE thousand (1K) 147JHP 9mm is $1199.99 @$1.20 per round !!!...

Someone can ask all they want...heck, ask $5,000,000/box...but it's the moron willing to pay that price that boggles the mind.

I wonder how many people win an auction for ammo at those prices and don't pay.

I sold several handguns on GB a few years back. In that small sample I had one guy that gave me excuse after excuse before backing out completely. And a couple of others that seemed surprised they won the auction but eventually paid. All the winning bids were close to the going rate. Its not like someone bid way too high and realized their mistake later.

I sell non-gun related stuff on eBay and its much worse there since you cannot leave negative feedback on a buyer. I got so tired of people winning auctions and not paying I only sell with a buy it now price that requires immediate payment. An awful lot of people think nothing of bidding up a price so high real buyers lose interest and then change their mind when they realize they bid too high.
