I have a full size 40 Mass compliant where the trigger pull measured 12.2# I finally was able to get the apex duty kit and installed it the other day the install went smooth with just a few references to the you tube video and now I will say the grittiness is gone but I'm not impressed with the pull it doesn't feel much different I know this must just be in my head but is it possible it didn't change that much

Until you put a scale on the trigger, it's hard to tell.

I have had apex triggers installed in my two Ma. Compliant shields and 40c and there was a huge difference in trigger pull very noticeable about 5lbs now and not gritty at all.

Drew,
I've got a Mass Comp 9c, 40c and 45c.
I put the DCAEK in the 9 and 45 and the FSS in the 40.
Felt the difference immediately. I don't have a trigger pull gauge, but didn't need one to know the pull was reduced significantly.
Is there a chance something is binding? Take a look at the trigger bar/sear action.

The FSS kit is the best but the duty kit is duty/carry compliant.

I'm with the above poster

Something must be wrong. I have several M&P's pistols and the stock triggers are pretty good. All I did was clean them up a bit and modify the sear for a faster reset. They are one of the easiest pistols I have ever owned to gunsmith..

I stripped the gun down examined everything I could think might be creating the hard trigger pull and couldn't find anything noticeable to me I'm going to take it to the shop I bought the apex kit from and have there Smith take a look I'll post the outcome when I know what's going on

I've messed up so many do -it- yourself projects that I'm always leery of things like this. Local dealer said they would install the Apex Kit, at no charge, while I waited on Saturday morning..... now thats a deal I can't refuse! They are located about 60 miles from me but that's worth the drive...." A man's got to know his limitation's "

I brought the gun to the shop I purchased the apex kit from they checked the pull weight it measured 9.8 which is better than the 12 plus that it was prior to apex parts but still not acceptable the Smith at the shop took it all apart and installed another kit they had on the shelf measured trigger pull again and it was 5 not sure what was wrong with the first kit but I'm much happier now and notice a huge difference

The Apex kit comes with 2 different trigger springs, I'm thinking you installed the heavy one. Doesn't matter now since you've got it fixed. I've always wondered why anyone would install the "beefy" one that comes with the kit, I've got 3 in my spare parts box.;)

They probably never changed the original spring the DCAEK spring is 5lbs. APEX don't make a 10lb spring.
