I was sitting here trying to come up with something unique for my 1500th post...again. Don't even remember where I was when the cyber thief reset the counters, but was over 2K.
It has taken a lot longer to get to 1500 again that it did the first time. Either the topics were more interesting or then items offered were good stuff...or both.
A little rant and a whole lot of praise for the Forum and it's members.
We are getting more of the same old stuff recycled on the WTS/WTT page. If it didn't sell in the first week or so I don't know why our members think it will sell by relisting it every week. But that is their option, and I choose to ignore it after the first look see.
While the forum is no less interesting than it was in the beginning there are fewer of the old times still here. The guys and gals that are no longer with us surely made things a little more interesting, but it is still a great place to be.
We have some truly artistic members among us. Dave Kieth makes some really stunning holsters and BBQ rigs. I have two, one for my 3.5" M27 and one for my custom Commander in .38 Super. Randy Shue is a real craftsman and again I have several of his hammers in my kits and boxes. Shooboy makes the best. Bell Charter Oaks makes some great leather. We have another member that makes some really interesting target stands, haven't tried one of those yet. And there are some very unique Prop Rods now available on the forum made by one of our members.
I strongly encourage our membership to support our members and buy from the Smith-Wesson Forum members first. They all stand behind their products and they are some pretty good guys.
My other wish is that we all join the NRA if we have not as yet done so. I don't care it anybody up grades their membership, the important this is BEING A MEMBER.
I would also encourage our membership to check out the SWCA. It is not an elitist organization for snobs. Lots of great folks are members and collectively they have a wealth of knowledge about S&Ws as well as other makes from the Connecticut Valley, and several have some very interesting personal collections. You might find that you fit right in.
Finally the Grand kids, Abbie and Andrew, weathered the holidays as kids are apt to do. No new health issues coming into 2014.
I sincerely hope that this is the year that we all find our Bucket List or Holy Grail Gun.
