Yesterday I was up at our local American Legion post when a tall fellow with a pony tail came in. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion but I didn't know him. He was talking for awhile and mentioned that his mother had been a bartender at that post. He mentioned her name and I remembered her. We showed him her framed obituary that we had at the bar. I was sitting at the bar and had a couple Golden Dollars standing up on the bar as a tip for the current bartender. The fellow was standing behind me so I turned around and introduced myself, and told him that I was the guy who used to tip his mom in Golden Dollars and that I bought my beers with Golden Dollars that his mom exchanged for paper money. And then I told him how his mom said that she used the Golden Dollars to pay for her car insurance.
With that, the fellow's face brightened up and he told me about seeing his mom with the stash of Golden Dollars she had obtained from me and how much joy they gave to her. She was a dear sweet lady and it was good to see how happy her son was about the pleasure his mom got from receiving the Golden Dollars I like to spread around to serving staff. To say that this made my day would be an understatement.
