Have any of you folks had your sonic case cleaner redirected to clean your wife's jewelry? If so how did it work? Wife had a cheap one that died. I would rather she get a better quality one if anyone has had good results with one. (also I might get to use it)

They use them at the jewelry store/pawn shops. Guess the solution may be different, They usually just put a ammonia solution for the dollar store in it.

I clean my wife's silver jewelry with the aluminum foil, vinegar baking soda method,

I bought a jewelry cleaner at an auction a couple months ago. It had a blue solution with it for jewelry. I did run it with a case cleaning solution and a 150 38 Sp cases and it did a good job. Wife asked me a couple days ago if she should clean some rings and a couple necklaces that have never been cleaned. The woman likes gold and diamonds and emeralds. I cleaned an old mine cut emerald ring with my Hornady sonic cleaner a year or so ago. It worked just fine and I was amazed how it looked after coming out..of course it had a 100 yrs of dirt on it. I got the darn thing at an auction and I was a bit afraid it would hurt the stone. Even with a 10x loupe it looks unchanged other than clean. The Hornady cleaner does a good job on brass. Got to figure out a homemade cleaning solution for it though. That boughten stuff is spensive

Edited to ad..if you get a sonic cleaner get one that heats up. Seems to work better

Its citric acid. AKA LEMI SHINE and a drop of dish soap. You can get pure citric acid here enough for a lifetime, free shipping.

I just got an RCBS ultra sonic cleaner and it recommends using water for cleaning jewelry. If your cleaning gold any cleaning solution that is ok with brass should be ok with gold. Of course your results may vary etc. Give it a try with just water and see what happens.

Citric acid can be bought in the grocery store and it's cheap. Look where the home canning supplies are sold, the Mason jars and such. Put a tablespoon to a quart of distilled water, add a drop or three of Dawn and brass will come out clean. De-prime before you clean the brass and even the primer pockets will be fairly clean.
