The smaller operation besides C&S is what I'm looking for. My 646 has started acting up with the stock mainspring all the way in and loctited. I'd like to try this before an extended strain screw. Thanks.

I'm using moonclips, it won't shoot reliably without them. There is no or next to no endshake. This just started and it looks like the FP is barely protruding with the trigger all the way back. I'm thinking it may be chipped or worn but it's got less than 5k rds. through it, maybe less than 4K. FWIW, the FP on my 610 protrudes about twice as far with the trigger back and no moonclips are needed.

I had similar problems with my 646 soon after I bought it. Tried to figure it out myself. Finally asked S&W to look at it under warranty and it came back fine- and set up much tighter headspace. Call and ask for a call tag so you don't have to pay shipping.

By the way, 646 is not supposed to fire without moonclips per S&W.

I'm not trying to sound ungrateful but I've put thousands of rds. through this gun. I'm using the thick Rimz moonclips. I'd appreciate the name of the company who makes the extended firing pins besides C&S. I've seen it mentioned here and looked through a few posts using search but got tired of reading the SOS. Thanks again.

Yes I agree apex has a very nice kit. I also have a 646 and I like you like the rimz moon clips.
