Souse Meat, any one like it?

A bunch of unmentionable parts from unmentionable critters... all held together in cold gelatin.

Heck no, NEVER.

Is "Souse" the parts is parts meat that is mixed with plain gelatin to make a loaf? If it is I'd have to say no! My grandparents made it (Polish) and would slice it up and put it on rye with a sprinkling of vinegar.
I'll just stick with potted meat and spam. Spam is awesome fried by the way! LOL almost as good as canned hash!

BOY-oh boy this younger generation will never survive if hard times come like some are predicting Souse ,head cheese ,pickled pork hocks .ox tales
baked heart, lots of stuff we used to eat as kids during ww2.Don't forget Duck soup.Dad was gone and mom did her best to keep us fed and healthy.
Where I come from it's not "Duck Soup"! It's duck blood soup! Wierd but good.

Shades of Anthony Zimmerman! that stuff looks like....While you know what I mean. Any doctor that wouldn't warn you off of that crap must be dating your wife..Or is that a picture of your artery after eating that stuff.

NO THANKS

My mother was from Georgia and was born in 1913. She tried to give me that stuff when I was a kid. I wound up with a bread and mustard sandwich that time. She liked brains and eggs and fried pickeled pigs feet and scrapple and liver and liver sausage. I never developed any liking for that stuff. I don't eat guts if given a choice. Actually, the older I get the more I like my fruit and veggies. My cardio system seems to like them too. I think that kind of thing(everthing but the oink) came from times before refrigeration and food was valuable and people ate it all and were glad to have it. I prefer to "eat high on the hog" myself. Y'all can have my share.

Aloha,

I'll try it once, more if I like it.

Hey, you should se what other kids of food we here in Hawaii like to eat.

We have a whole lot Different Ethnic groups living here along with their different foods.....

Don't forget, the Spam musubi originated here. Plus we eat More Spam here than anywhere else in the world......

That stuff pictured looks nothing like the stuff I see around here. I won't judge it though without trying it.

Two minutes ago I did not even know what it was, Now I wish I could turn back time by Two Minutes!!!!!!!

OMG

When I first saw that picture of the cross section, a shiver went up my spine and my gag reflex was triggered.

That crap should be fed to Islamic terrorists (or threaten to feed it to them) to make them spill the beans. (unless of course, it's considered 'torture')!

Do you think that stuff would be any good for ballistics testing? ;-)

When I was a kid, my dad would bring this home every now and then - I loved pickled stuff so I thought it was pretty good - maybe I thought it was a passage to manhood thing - sort of like eating pickled pigsfeet - which I also did.

Possibly because of the experiences like this, I find that there is almost no variety of food that I don't like - it's a curse as you get older and wider :o

The local German butchershop made great headcheese and also blood tongue, I haven't had butchershop made varieties of either of these since the late '50's-early '60's. Scrapple in my experience had the meat finely chopped rather than in the chunks typically found in head cheese. I like them all, especially the head cheese with pimento and vinegar.
