The big thing I took away from it is that reinfection is less than 1% of the cases they are seeing.
I also notice they don't say anything about there being any serious illness among the small number of people being reinfected.
Obviously if the reinfected were getting really sick a piece like this would have sensationalized the HELL out of it.
So while they are trying to make this into a big deal, it seems like it probably really isn't. Just like the "increases" and "spikes" in infection in the US, are really small compared to a few months ago, and aren't resulting in large numbers of hospitalizations or deaths. But they don't bother to mention that context. Instead they just shout that the number of INFECTIONS ARE ON THE RISE - because that is the way to make it a dramatic headline.

Not a big surprise. That's how nature, and science, works. The vaccines aren't perfect, and just like with the annual flu vaccine, there'll be mutations, variants and constant upgrades necessary.

It's also to be expected that non-vaxxers will latch onto these reports to question the whole project. Of course that's like refusing to carry a .45 for self-defense, because, hey, if it can't be guaranteed to stop a charging elephant, it's better not to carry a gun at all

The odds after vaccination are seemingly very good. A study from Washington State of a million fully vaccinated people so far show eight breakthrough cases serious enough to be hospitalized and two potential virus related deaths.

BTW: My eldest and youngest daughters both caught Covid and have thought they were now immune. My youngest is now recovering from a second Covid infection.

There are only four sure things in life.

You were born
Taxes
Jesus Christ
Death

What you think and how you act or react is up to you.
I'm not anymore concerned now than I was at the beginning of the outbreak.
I told people then that in the end it will prove to be about the same death rate as several other COVIDs that we deal with every year and this thing with or without vacillating will not ever go away. It is here for good and that's a fact.
There are about 17 different COVID viruses [emoji3083] that we endure yearly and vaccinate for with little to no affect on the next years cases.

I have been exposed to the general population in high risk/exposure places making my deliveries and only been "to the best of my knowledge " sick once. With what I don't have a clue, my boys brought what ever it was home.

Best defense against infection is limit your exposure to crowds indoors and wash wash wash your hands and don't touch your face.

Ps.

Just a little side note is that this last flue season was the first year no one died of the "Flu" and all the flu viruses are COVID viruses.

I think I'll pass on getting a shot...;)

Me too. :D

I am a pioneer in immunotherapy treatments for cancer and the
first in one clinical trial that today is an approved treatment that
kills stage IV cancer.

I participated in more than one clinical trial in search for viable
cancer treatments.

The new Covid-19 gene modifier in one clinical trial that
I'm not going to participate it. ;)

What bothers me about the whole COVID scamdemic is that immediately from the start it was turned into a political weapon, with the news media fanning the flames. There has so much conflicting information/lies/BS that it makes me very skeptical of all of it.

I'm not an anti-vaxxer, as I take a flu shot every year, got the shingles vaccine, and I can't remember what else.

The COVID medications have not been thoroughly tested yet to my satisfaction, so I am willing to take my chances with declining the shot.

With a survival rate of over 99% I feel very comfortable with my decision.

Here in lovely FL, many locals are the size of baby elephants. Well, maybe baby elephants on a diet...tho it's hard to imagine these people on a diet. So, does that mean I need to carry a .45? GAP, ACP, 45 Auto Rim, or Long Colt?

Desperately seeking thread drift.

I don't know where you got that data from, but the CDC reports that there were between 24-62k flu deaths for the 2020 season. The reason why the range that year was so broad is that on a great many cases they couldn't differentiate between a death being caused "only" by the flu or if COVID-19 was either the prime cause or a contributing factor. Either way, that is a far cry from "no one". :(

Of course you do see the irony of calling Covid a "scamdemic" while complaining it was made into a political issue in the same sentence, don't you?

Why is it the same people who claim Covid is fake are also the ones arming up for the Zombie Apocalypse??? :D

The CDC has been trying to determine the death burden from influenza for 20 years without success. All of their reported numbers and pronouncements are estimates. I don't fault them for only having estimates. That is the nature of epidemiology, a statistical study of infection in populations, not objective or repeatable laboratory experiments. What I do object to is the assertion of data and pronouncements without any evaluation of uncertainty or probability. Even the National Weather Service has matured enough to call hurricane landfall projections "cones of uncertainty". Maybe the CDC will evolve. State, county and city health departments are clueless.

Lies, damn lies and statistics! The basic fact is people only die of one thing - cardiopulmonary arrest. Everything else is just a contributing factor...;)

I've had it with covid life. Once I get my second dose of Pfizer in a week, I'm simply not going to worry about it anymore. What ever happens, happens. I'd rather covid take me out of the game then live forever with masks and social distancing.

I've not really worried about it from the start.

Only places I wear a mask is the places that require them.

I've seen people driving in their car alone with a mask on. Saw a few people riding bicycles, and jogging with them too.
