I keep my old hard line phone for the house active and have it connected to the answering machine. This is almost always the phone number that I give out when required for on-line & in-person sales. I have the ringer turned almost all the way down and just monitor incoming calls.

Since the New Year I have seen a definite increase in the number of daily calls that terminate as soon as the answering machine engages. Today was the worst so far. I just checked the call log for today and as of 6:30 pm there have been 18 terminated incoming calls. I hope things start to slack off.

Any one else experiencing the same issue?

Yep. They all are spoofing a 513 area code. I don't live in Cincinnati any more, so that is a dead giveaway.

They've been spoofing North Dakota's area code and also from a place called Orovada in Nevada. Check it out on the map to see that there is nearly no such place. ;)

It seems that every day I get a couple of Realtor "cold calls" wanting to buy my house.
I'm thinking of wasting their time by getting them to come out and then changing my mind about selling, and go Clint on them with "Get off my property".

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I didn't get any spam calls. I thought perhaps the FCC put an end to them? WRONG! They're back! The new year started and so did the calls. If you call me, leave a message. I'll get back to you. Well, maybe.

I'm getting calls from Medicare folks, which irritate the hell out of me. I worked pretty hard with my kidney treatment folks to get the coverage and supplement I needed and it has worked well.

I get between 15 to 30 calls a day, I go along with what they are saying give a fake name then 2 days later someone calls for the fake name. Keeps me busy & plus if they are busy with me they are not bothering someone else.
Great being retired, now I can enjoy my new friends.

In my case the daily call count on my land line (which is connected to an answering machine) is fairly constant at between 5 and 10 daily. Most seem to be recorded robocalls selling something. One or two per day will disconnect when my answering machine comes on. I very seldom get any other types of calls on my land line, so I actually do not need it. Except I have a special circumstance that requires I have to keep a land line for at least another two years.

The caller ID said it was from the local electric company so I answered the call. I was told that my local "electric company" had over charged me $300. If I supplied them my credit card information they would send me the money. I told them I didn't have a credit card and to send me a paper check in the mail. They hung up on me.

Got a call from the NRA trying to sell me a life time membership. Only reason I even answered the phone was because the call was from a town down the road. This town has a Pop of 800 people. Wish it was illegal to spoof calls origination.

Put your landline number on Nomorobo.com. You can add spam numbers to their list. Spam calls get about half a ring and them cut off. Free for landlines, small fee for cells.

I had a call once and they asked to speak to the "man of the house".

I told them I'd like to speak with him also and if they knew where he is.

They hung up.

I started a new thread on just this topic.
