Here's one you don't see very often, the Model 10-13, a faithful reproduction of the original Model 1899.

Only a few dozen made (can't remember the actual number but it was ~40ish made)

And no lock

Yes, no lock. Interesting story..... The year was 2000, these were manufactured prior to the lock debacle, but were tucked away in the factory vault for some reason.

When S&W signed the "Agreement" with the government and the gun community at large decided to boycott S&W the company went through some tough times.... So much so that they started emptying out the company vault and lots of interesting variations emerged from various distributors.

These were part of the vault purge, they ended up going to J&G Rifle Ranch in Arizona (see ad below, upper left - Labeled as the Model 10 Commemorative...)

A buddy sent me a copy of the ad so I called J&G and asked to tell me what the Model number was (M10-13). I had a pretty good collection of M10's and earlier M&P's at the time and was thrilled to hear about this version. I bought a couple and friends in the NW did the same. Another collector in Texas purchased the rest of them, so they disappeared again.

The interesting thing about these (other than the scarcity), was the serial number, the serial number of the one above is M&P0013.

Here's the ad, also showing lots of guns they received from the vault purge

SmithNut, you got a really nice rare one for sure. I would’ve LOVED to get a couple of the Heritage Model 17’s at that price!!
