OK.
I have a very nice M19-3 4" from 1975, the box has P.300 written on the Special Features area. Any ideas? The pistol is wearing Hogue Monogrips....found my original grips. The box is marked "T" for stock.
thanks,

"T" in the stock area of the end label would have been wood Target stocks, with the extractor or "football" cutout on the left panel. P.300 as a Special Feature doesn't ring any bells for me but perhaps someone else might know if it means something.

A picture of the end label would be helpful.

The "P.300" almost sounds to me like something someone added after the fact. So, I doubt it is a factory abbreviation.

Where is Kernel Crittenden when you need him. :)

If he does not know, then it is likely that no one other than a small handful in the SWCA including Roy Jinks could even take an educated guess.

It may have been written afterwards.

My guess is that the dealer wrote that there to mean "page 300" of his firearms disposition book. ...
I was going to guess that it meant "Price: $300". That does sound pretty high for 1975, however. The first handgun I ever bought was a S&W M19-5 circa 1988 at a sporting goods shop. The price was about $250, and I probably overpaid.
