which would serve me better ... a speed loader or reload thru a speed strip ?

the speed strip my be a little less bulky but i am assuming the loader would be a tad quicker .
give your opinions/experience AND where is the best place to purchase either or both to serve my needs ?

thanks

With practice either will sped up your reload times. I prefer the speed strips, as they are easier to carry, either in your pocket or a belt pouch. Speed loaders may be a touch faster but as you said can be bulky.

Added: To locate just do a Google search, lots of places offer one or the other.

I prefer the strips, as well, due to the shape. They're not as slow as you might think with a little practice. If you go with a speedloader, make sure they are compatible with the grips you have on the revolver.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I feel that a revolver reload is more to make sure you're not standing there with an empty weapon after a shooting. I find it hard to picture a scenario where a CCW holder would reload and keep firing as opposed to leaving the area. Not saying it doesn't happen, just seems unlikely.

I sometimes carry a 3" 686+ in the winter in a a Lobo leather holster which I also ordered a speed loader pouch. But I also carry a speed strip in my pocket.
The loader is great for a complete reload and the strips are great if you're just reloading a few or all and it carries easier.

I tend to carry both when carrying just a revolver, but when my J-frame rides as a BUG it's normally just a speed strip in my pocket.

Don't know the best place to get them online, but the Bianchi speed strips have worked very well for me as well as the HKS speed loader.

I agree with petepeterson here. If you end up reloading and continuing to fire, then you probably actually need an infantry rifle squad.

Both techniques have their advantages and disadvantages. I'd also add, speed strips and speed loaders aren't really that expensive. For $20 or so, you can try them both.

I carry a speed strip when I CC my J-frame, It is easy to replace one or two spent cartridges with a strip, nearly impossible with a loader.

the dual speed loader carry pouch is bulky. the strips serve their purpose also. a choice would be the hks loaders, a pouch on the belt. but as replied ^^^^^ you should make the choice.

My normal urban cc is a 3913 w/ and extra mag........

but for woods walking it's a 3 or 4 inch Model 66. w/ one or two Safariland speedloaders in their "split six" belt pouch....... and a speed strip in my vest pocket in case I need to reload 1 or 2 rounds...... which is the most likely scenario.

My normal mode is the strip but you can use the speed loader (I do) in a jacket pocket in the cooler months. I did learn a lesson during my recent LEOSA qualification. Everyone around me was shooting the Glock 23 while I was shooting my Model 38 w/speed loaders. The revolver is cumbersome/slow to reload in comparison to the semi-auto even for me, an experienced revolver shooter.

I like to use a speed strip due to ease of carry, I usually keep one in my jeans watch pocket. My game plan is to only shoot one time to stop the threat, if more shots are required I will be running for cover to reload.

When I carry (mostly IWB), I have a Safariland® Comp 1 speedloader in my right front pocket; and a pair of Bianchi® speedstrips banded together in my right rear pocket. Been carrying reloads like this for decades.

I haven't done a speed strip since my wedding night... :D

But on a serious note...when it comes to reloading a revolver, I've found that I prefer speed loaders for full size revolvers, and speed strips for small revolvers. The speed loaders are hard for me to manipulate with a small revolver, for some reason. The speed strip also carries better.

Both have their uses. Speed loaders are faster but more bulky. Speed strips are easy to carry.
In warm weather its usually a speed strip in my pocket. Once jacket weather arrives its time to switch to speed loaders.
Geat some of both. You will use them. ;)

Nothing beats a Speed Loader...except having your revolver modified to accept MOON clips...it's doable. Contact Welcome to TK Custom.com & Moonclips.com for more info.

Speed strips are a BETTER way to die in a firefight than single-loading of rounds.

IF you choose to carry a revolver for defense you should first go with Moon clips, and second Speed loaders. Yes they're more bulky than flat speed strips, but they're also 50 bazillion light-years BETTER!

Just MHO

I like both personally. One or two speedloaders and a speed strip in the opposite pocket.
