Security, Service and Speed Six's were available in .357, .38 Spl (Rarer) and 9mm (very desirable) , They also made some for overseas orders in .380 Rimmed or .38/200 (The old .38 S&W )

You seem to know quite a bit about these.

Do you know if my gun would have been shipped with both cylinders, or would that have been something someone added?

I haven't really been able to find much about 'convertible' double action Rugers. Is there any particular place I should be looking?

I do not know that much but I am unaware of Convertible Six series Double actions. That doesn't mean they didn't make any though. I do know that extra cylinders, hammers etc usuallt work with little or no fitting so someone may have added it. I assume you don't have the box?

I don't know of any Ruger double actions ever made or shipped with more than one cylinder.

Ruger charges a whopping $10 for their factory verification letter. You can find it on their web site, I think under "Customer Service." It's not a huge amount of info or history like you'll get from S&W but will confirm the configuration as made and when it was shipped.

You can do a Serial No lookup for free on their website. Beware though, it will normally get caliber and mfg date right but it can be wrong on the model. My Speed Six comes up as a Single Six ( as most if not all do)

S/N lookup on their web site is virtually useless on the older guns.

But it's about 99% accurate with guns they've made after they started keeping track of items by computer.
