Planning to attend my first ICORE match later this month.
Will be shooting my 625-3 in Classic.
Can anyone advise how many speedloaders are needed to compete?
Always used either moonclips or AR brass.
Will have to buy a bunch of AR loaders, of course.

That really depends on which particular stages the match director sets up. Usually ours max reload is 2 or 3 per stage, but at times that can be 4 or 5.

I don't know whether the ICORE website would give a clue.

We sometimes have a killer stage with Texas Star, two sets of paper on both sides, and two sets of steel. Then is a good idea to have the 'more is better' plan.

I think "8 loaders" is about the max I've ever needed.

The Stubby 45AR using the HKS speed loader leaves a little to be desired.

The loaded speed loader shows the issue. I would look at cutting the HKS body down so it does not have so much of the cartridge in it. The more of the cartridge out of the speed loader, the easier to hit the chambers. Also less chance of dragging the ammunition back out of the chambers when pulling the speed loader away during the reload.

This picture shows a 45AR speed loader in a Big Creek Carrier that I made for one of our ICORE shooters from Columbia Missouri.

I am sure someone with a lath and drill press can modify the HKS speed loaders to work even better by shortening the skirt to get more of the 45AR cartridge out of the speed loader body. As far as I know HKS is the only speed loader available for the 45AR in a 25/625. Anyone wanting to use the 25/625 in more than Limited Division will have to try and make the HKS speed loaders work to shoot a 25/625 in Classic Division.

At Big Piney we normally shoot 4 - 6 Stages. All Stages are either 6, 12, or 18 round. I never go over 18 rounds on our stages. I also keep our total round count between 50 and 100 rounds for a match. Some ICORE Matchs have much higher Stage and Match round counts.
I believe Marvin only has 3 speed loaders so far for his 45AR. I would think 5 would be a good starting number, and keep them reloaded.

Most of our ICORE shooters have a Shower Caddy to carry speed loaders, and empty cases in on the range. I had a Black one first, then found a larget Clear one at Walmart that I am currently using. (I had to go to the shop and see what it was called.) They are a hard plastic open top tote with multiple compartments and a center handle to carry it around. Most of our shooters have went to the same one I am using as a water bottle will go in one of the compartments.

I would probably go with 5 speed loaders for the 45AR, as you will end up with a 38 sooner or later. :)
