My awesome mom bought me the FAKE spikes can for my 15-22 but she didnt get the alignment kit. Those that have the can - which shim did you use?

If the med shim works (8 in the kit) could I possibly get one from someone if I pay for shipping? I'd just buy the kit for $5 but spikes is out of stock.

Thanks

oh man please don't post your 'mom' bought you a 'can'! she bought you a 'shroud, fake can'. on my real 'cans' (don't own any shrouds) i could care less whether the lettering is, top, bottom, side, don't matter, but that's me.
you could go to a hardware store and buy some black washers to align it where you want, what 5 cents a piece? works fine, or you could use the spacer that was between the threads and your flash hider on the original configuration and then add a washer until it lines up.

I think my post pretty much covered it without being condescending. Just my $0.02

Gesus - calm down - I assumed everyone knew i was talking about the FAKE can. I've got my paperwork in waiting on a REAL one but I like the look of this thing - and again, I didn't pay for it.

I was just looking for others experiences since I know quite a few ppl have them.

Thanks everyone else for the input.

You will likely need a combination of the shims that come in the kit, all off which combined do not equal the thickness of a washer you will get at the hardware store. Nor would you likely find washers that have a large enough center hole without being way too large to sit inside the opening in the can. Call Spikes and have them send you the kit. They will do this for no $$ if you ask nicely and are patient.

I got my shim kit from brownells. Spikes is always perpetually back ordered. I think it was 4 small or something to perfectly align it but I could be wrong. There is a thread around here with the right number, I'll see if I can find it

Found it. Use 4 of the 45 degree (medium) washers that come in the kit, that will align it perfectly. Brownells is the same thing that spikes sells. This place has them in stock

was not intended to be condescending, just a matter of semantics since there are anti's everywhere just logging this kind of info into their books. sorry if anyone got offended, not my intention, but it was a 'loaded' text and never assume someone automatically understands. mine all have peel washers, kind of a cone type. you can flip them over and one or two washers, we have them here at Tru Value's huge bins of every washer/screw you could ever want, that fit perfect.
i'm a function over form guy, if i can get them painted without affecting the S/N they will be tan to match.
