Not my video....I am certainly not vouching for it....
Figure it might spark a comment or two
Is the Incredible Spinning Bullet on Ice Real?
NSFW language at the end of the video...
Look at the beginning of the video closely....
Do they go to the the point of impact for the NEW round that was fired, or to a spot inches before where the new round hit????

Bullets have both linear (forward) and rotational velocity. Ice melts easily under pressure. This video is way cool  but when you stop to think about it, unimpeded as is the bullet's rotational velocity by the lubricating, melting ice, the "spinning top" effect really doesn't surprise me at all.

Thanks for posting this one, Sheriff.

It's a fake.... The bullet is spinning about 15-inches away from where the fired round struck the ice.

The video editing software nowadays is incredible.

that is exactly what I thought....I can't slow it down frame by frame, but you can see that the spinning bullet IS NOT the one they fire into the ice...

pause it at 4 seconds and you can see the other bullet stuck in the ice where he originally fired and the other bullet already sitting there "spinning"

just a question but is it possible that the round hit the ice, and "danced" if you will over to where it was spinning in place? go spin a top and see what im talking about. im still not convinced its real but if that is all that people are doubting i see that as being plausible. i have recovered fmj from snow when we were shooting that were completley undamaged and not that far AT ALL from poi which was some cans sitting on the snow. but when i brought the rounds home i stuck one in an empty casing and i whipped it straight down at the ground as hard as i could and it did SOME damage. so like i said im on the fence, does anybody know whats up with mythbusters??? wouldnt mind seeing this also i just watched it again, it does sound EXTREMELY suppressed almost like a bb gun, if that has anything to do with it???

could have danced over to that other spot, but like i said if you pause at 4 seconds you can clearly see the initial POI and the bullet in another spot. could be, you are probably right. just "freeze frame" it up to 4 seconds so you can follow the new hole being put there by the bullet. i had to do it a few times but you can find it in the top right corner.

Scroll down the comments section and there's another video of some bullets spinning in ice. Must be the thing to do now.

Fake...Why is the bullet so perfect? I can only speculate but I believe the bullet(Projectile) made of soft lead and copper would have some diformity.

Also, the video does not look right. The impact is high right but then the bullet somehow appears a foot closer. I mean it appears like magic. Something like a magic bullet. Where have I heard that before?

its plausible ... the RPM is about right. and impact would act mainly upon the forward motion.
its not the best vid to judge from since it breaks line of sight .. and it may have finally worked on the 42'd take given the well pock marked ice.

ice and snow are strange ballistic mediums.
Ive recovered aggressive hollowpoint designs from top end loads from snow that would have hand grenaded in any other target, that were pristine save rifling marks.
ice ... I cant tell you too much about, I haven't shot enough of it as its a waste of ammo ... snow, where I come from is hard to avoid shooting.

They posted another video on youtube in response to the accusations. It looks like one leaves a trail from the POI until it falls into a depression.

I think this will prove real

...as a kid, we used to shoot .22s into the ice and retrieved the bullets. Only marks on 'em was the rifling from the barrel. They were not deformed, not expanded, nor was there even a flat spot on the nose from hitting the ice. These were soft lead rimfire bullets, not FMJs like shown on the video.

Below is the same guys doing it multiple times.

YouTube - Spinning .40 cal bullet on ice

Google spinning bullet on ice and you'll see several demonstrations. Even one with a rifle bullet.

As I said in my original post, basic physics suggests that this demonstration is the real thing. It is so cool, it may replace the dreidel as the favorite traditional Jewish toy given out at Hanukkah -- at least in Israel where .40 caliber Glocks are ubiquitous. ;)

anybody give any thought to the VERY faint sound? im past the point of why it hits somewhere and is spinning a foot away, it just danced, the thing that bothers me is the sound, or lack thereof. when we were shootin towards the ground (hard snow a foot deep you could dang near walk on) i was finding rounds on top of the snow in perfect condition MAYBE 15-20ft from where they hit the snow, it made me scratch my head, but i think they were hitting the rock hard frozen ground and expending all energy, pretty much bouncing off the ground and floating to the surface very close. water ice and snow, are indeed very strange "backstops". strange enough i know im not tryin this! lmao. thats how you get a round spinning in your leg or in someone around you. one of the guys in the comments said they were shooting a .44 straight down and it was bouncing up like 6 ft, is he lying, dont know but wouldnt want to be around him when he got a gun. just my opinion
