Absent Comrade
There was a knock at my sisters door at 7PM and to our surprise, in walk two beautiful elves that start making a fuss over the children. A minute later, Mrs. Claus comes in, and fawns over the kids. A minute after that, Santa comes through the door and the kids go wild.
But this was not the professional Santa we hired to appear at 8PM. These were my nephews in-laws, who have been like family since the marriage. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Claus, is a hospice nurse, and she was a tremendous help and comfort to us before my mothers recent passing. She wanted to cheer us up, and got her daughters (elves) and husband (Santa) involved also. It was wonderful, and not even my nephews wife knew what her mother had planned.
After a hurried phone call, the 8PM Santa got a paid night off.
God bless all of you that go the extra mile for others, or are supportive of those that do. Merry Christmas.
