Sportsters and Big Twins...

THATS what I like to see... not that what I like does, or should matter to anyone.
I like bikes that get ridden, no matter the brand.
It just seems that most harleys I see are ultra low mileage, not a speck of dust, and the riders look like they are trying to follow a snake track taking off.

Then mine would suit you, '04 Electra Glide with 62K on the clock, had 3 miles on it when I brought it home. I haven't been able to ride it much the last two years or it would have more miles on it. I used to keep it clean but found out if I had time to clean it, I had time to ride it. I see a rat bike and envy the owner. I've ridden for over 40 years and have owned all kinds and liked every one of them.

So how many miles per season does one need to "ride" to make them "legit"?
How long between washes?

Not real sure about that... but when you see a 10 year old bike with 1,200 miles on it... you can pretty much tell that it isnt being ridden.
Wash it every day if you like... some people find that to be therapeutic.
But when a bike gets serious miles put on it... in all kinds of weather and all kinds of roads... its going to be hard to keep it looking 100% showroom fresh.

78% of all Harley-Davidsons sold since 1980 are still on the road.

The rest of them made it back home....

What do I know? I bought my current ride, a new Triumph, in June, 1974...

I am shopping for a new bike. The market is staggering, there are so many outstanding bikes now made by so many makers. Tough to make a choice.

I've had guys on sport bikes weave between and pass the group of riders I was in on curves and no-passing zones while riding in the White Mts. of New Hampshire. You also see nuts on Harleys too but I've seen more sport bike accidents, by far, then Harleys.
Next time you go by the house, give a honk. :D

Hey Forester you near North Woodstock? My in-laws are full time RV's who some summers volunteer for the forestry service there at Russell Pond camp. When they do my wife and I usually visit for a week or two. Beautiful area and a great riding area.....

I bet I've met them. :D We camp there a couple of times a summer. Live about 30 minutes from there. Newfound Lake.

Dosen't matter what you ride, just ride! I bought an '08 Ultra 105th in May of '08. January of '09, I had a stroke. I tried VERY hard to ride it, but just couldn't handle it without small attempts at killing myself. So it wound up being 2 years old with 4600 miles on it. Took it in and had it converted to a trike. I put 1300 miles on it in 9 days. I'm finally having a ball again.

As far as the low mileage Harley's for sale, I've bought several .44 mags that only had a few rounds through them. Not everyone can ride a big bike.

A lot of "almost new" Can Am's for sale around here, i don't think people like them as much as they thought they would.

A carpenter's "Dream Bike".

With metal spokes??

I've been riding mcs since 1966 - First one was a Harley and the last one will be too. I've had several different brands over the years (even a honda for a short time) and ALWAYS came back to the HD --- It's the music they make :) as you motor down the road.

I loved the rigid frames, but the SoftTail is even better.

So ya think a 'motorbike' with 2 wheels in front , 1 in rear , is a new idea?

Well it certainly was for Indian in 1903.

I've been riding over 30 years, and have had 4 bikes. Two Japanese and 2 Harleys. Rode my '93 1200 Sportster to Milwaukee from California for the 95th and now i ride an '01 Not-So-Low Rider. I've kept up with sportbikes and let Winnebagos go by. It doesn't matter, just ride.

Can't we all just get along.....:D
