This is a 1940 pre-war garand. Belived to have serviced in WW 2. I bought this rifle from the DCM (pre-CMP) about 1975, through a police special offer.
Have not shot this M1 for the past 35 years. At present I am 94 and don't shoot anymore. The serial number is 5 digits starting with 16xxx and the barrel
dated 1-50 with a mirror bore. Wood good overall. No cracks or repairs. Has square longated cartouche, but can't make out initals. The parkerized finish
is near 100% in my opinion. Has the P inspection on grip behind trigger guard. Also has all cleaning gear in stock butt. Too old to try to check on part numbers and makers, but a buyer may disasemble and conduct said checks...... It also has a sling. Like to post pics but this computer is beat and a problem for me
