square or round

hello,

i have not received this yet but i just purchased a 686 combat magnum (new) sku# 164222 w/ 4in bbl.


is this a square butt or round butt? the pic from the site i bought this from looks like a square one but after do some reading it looks like they made these combat magnums in both square & round. looking to upgrade the grip and i want to be sure before buying.

Some one can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe smith phased out square butts decades ago, and all current K/L frames are round butt

I took my 66 and 686 grips off. Both are designed for round.

Current production L frames are all RB, but they have been made in both styles.

Some of the recent Classic line of K frames (model 17, 18 and 48) are SB.
